"The Dead Don't Hurt" after-party with Viggo Mortensen

The Dead Don't Hurt, directed, written by and co-starring Viggo Mortensen, premiered at the Royal Alexandra Theatre on Thursday, September 8, 2023.

Following the world premiere, Viggo, who plays carpenter Holger Olsen and his co-star Vicky Kriegs, as well as Nadia Litz who plays Martha Gilkyson, were joined by producers Regina Solórzano and Jeremy Thomas, plus costume designer Anne Dixon at Pink Sky for an after-party hosted by Audi Canada and World Class Canada.

The movie revolves around a Danish man, played by Viggo and a French-Canadian woman (Vicky Kriegs), who team up during the 1860s and settle down at his home near the quiet town of Elk Flats, Nevada.

When he leaves to join the Union army during the Civil War, she's left on the homestead to fend for herself in a place controlled by corrupt Mayor Rudolph Schiller (Danny Huston) and his business partner, powerful rancher Alfred Jeffries (Garret Dillahunt).

Alfred's violent, wayward son Weston (Solly McLeod) aggressively pursues Vivienne, who is determined to resist his unwanted advances.

The Dead Don't Hurt screens again at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 14 at Scotiabank Theatre on Richmond. ~Alexandra Heilbron
