Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Williams pay gap is jaw-dropping

Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams both play starring roles in the movie All the Money in the World. But the difference in what they were paid for reshoots is jaw-dropping.

When Kevin Spacey was removed from All the Money in the World due to sexual misconduct allegations, his scenes had to be re-shot, with Christopher Plummer taking over his role of J. Paul Getty.

Director Ridley Scott told USA Today that reshooting those scenes cost a total of $10 million, but added, “Everyone did it for nothing.” And that’s true of Michelle Williams, who was paid less than $1,000 for redoing her scenes.

However, Mark Wahlberg, who played an investigator hired to help Williams’ character get back her kidnapped son, earned a hefty $1.5 million for the reshoots.

The Washington Post reported that Wahlberg’s team drives “a tough bargain,” but it’s interesting to note that Williams is repped by the same agency — William Morris Endeavour.

All the Money in the World is critically acclaimed, with numerous positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, but with the Times Up Initiative, which advocates for gender equality and victims of sexual harassment, specifically in Hollywood, there’s speculation now that further nominations may be few and far between. ~Alexandra Heilbron
