Rachel McAdams walks red carpet in Valentino

Rachel McAdams, Canada's sweetheart, walked the red carpet yesterday, dressed in a spectacular see-through Valentino gown that left little to the imagination.

Here to promote Spotlight, in which she portrayed the real life Sacha Pfeiffer, a Boston Globe reporter, she told interviewers that the role was much the same as her role as a cop in the TV series True Detective.

She spoke to the Toronto Sun: “It was interesting, because I was playing an investigator both in True Detective and this one.”

Sacha Pfeiffer, along with the rest of the Spotlight team, blew the lid off the widespread child molestation and cover-ups that were occurring in the Catholic Church in the Boston area. The newspaper won a Pulitzer prize in 2003 for the story and sent many priests through the court system.

Rachel, 36, spent time with Sacha to prepare for her role, but only days after shooting was completed on the film, she was off to begin work on the set of True Detective.

“It was so interesting to switch gears so quickly but I found they both were very curious. They both are people who really care about justice for those who need help and aren’t being helped. It was kind of in the same zone. They were different people, but they cared about similar things.”

Other TIFF 2015 spottings of Rachel include the premiere of her film Everything Will Be Fine, as well as taking on the role of Buttercup for the live read of The Princess Bride, directed by Jason Reitman. ~Sharon Salsberg
