Alec Baldwin to join NBC late-night line-up

As a winner of two Emmy awards for Best Actor in a Comedy, 30 Rock‘s Alec Baldwin, 55, deems to be NBC’s favorite as an unnamed executive considered him to join the NBC late night line up to replace the 1:35 am time slot of Last Call with Carson Daly. With Daly hosting The Voice and 30 Rock ending their last season, it seems like perfect timing for Baldwin to take on a new project. He has more than proven his emcee skills by hosting Saturday Night Live no less than 16 times, he’s co-hosted the Oscars with Steve Martin, and he hosts a weekly radio podcast on WNYC called “Here’s the Thing” where he interviews celebrities – like Chris Rock, Michael Douglas, and Lena Dunham – from their homes and dressing rooms. The Times notes Baldwin is “regarded one of the best guests on late-night television shows” and “has won critical praise for his podcast series.” If Baldwin accepts, he’ll be stepping into the late night line-up of new hosts next year along with Jimmy Fallon, who will be taking over for Jay Leno on The Tonight Show in February, and someone who has yet to fill in his shoes on Late Night. ~E.
