George Clooney is to receive the Cecil B DeMille gong at the Golden Globe Awards next year. The 52-year-old actor will be handed the honor at the glamorous event in Los Angeles on January 11, 2015, after being recognized for his ”outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera,” the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s president Theo Kingma announced yesterday. George will follow in the footsteps of previous winners Woody Allen, Jodie Foster, Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro, who were presented with the prize for their incredible impact on the world of entertainment. The Monuments Men star already has four Golden Globe awards under his belt for O Brother, Where Art Thou? in 2000, Syriana in 2005, The Descendants in 2011, and Argo in 2012. Meanwhile, the hunky star recently announced that he is set to marry his fiancée Amal Alamuddin, whom he has been dating since last September, in Venice, Italy, ”in a couple of weeks.” Speaking during his acceptance speech at the Celebrity Fight Night event last week in Tuscany, Italy, he told the audience: ”I met my bride-to-be in Italy, and I will be married in Italy soon, in a couple of weeks. In Venice, of all places.”
