Robert Blake

Could Robert Blake be a case of life imitating art? Although he's well known for playing Detective Tony Baretta on the hit TV series Baretta from 1975 to 1978, and winning an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his work on the show, he also played the other side of the law, when he famously portrayed convicted killer Perry Smith in the film In Cold Blood. In 2002, he was arrested for the murder of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley, who was killed in 2001 by a gunshot to the head outside of a restaurant where they'd both just had dinner. After a trial, Robert was acquitted. In the same year, Bakley's three children filed a civil suit. This time, Robert was convicted of wrongful death and ordered to pay $30 million. Soon after, he declared bankruptcy — probably because despite having been a child actor from a very young age in movies and in the Our Gang comedies, and the success of Baretta, Robert hasn't worked onscreen as an actor since 1997.
