The Coen Brothers: Frances McDormand

Brother writer-director team Joel and Ethan Coen have been making films for over three decades now. No other actor has worked more frequently with the iconic pair than Frances McDormand. Whether she is the lead, supporting or completely uncredited, McDormand’s talent has shined in seven Coen Brothers films so far. McDormand first met Joel on the set of 1984’s Blood Simple. The year after, the two tied the knot. McDormand became a frequent actor in their films throughout the years, in features such as 1985’s Raising Arizona, 2001’s The Man Who Wasn’t There and 2008’s Burn After Reading. Arguably her most famous Coen collaboration was 1996’s Fargo, a film which earned her an Oscar for Best Actress.
