Reese Witherspoon has given her son a "redneck" name. The 36-year-old actress joked that calling her three-month-old child Tennessee - after the U.S. state in which she grew up - is typical of the working class South and made it impossible for her friends to guess whether the baby was a boy or a girl.
While interviewing Reese, her close friend Chelsea Handler joked to the
Chelsea Lately talk show audience and Reese, "She wouldn't tell me if she was having a boy or girl. Then [Reese] said, 'I'm pretty sure someone's reading our texts,' and I said, 'Please don't text me again because I don't want to be blamed.' Then you had the baby and you named it Tennessee and I still couldn't figure out if it was a boy or a girl." Reese laughed and said, "Or just a redneck!"
Tennessee - who was born on September 27- is Reese's first child with her agent husband Jim Toth and she is thrilled with the tiny tot, gushing that he always looks "super cute."
The
Water For Elephants actress hasn't been doing all the hard work herself, however, and revealed that her nine-year-old son Deacon and 13-year-old daughter Ava from her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe love looking after their baby brother.
Ava in particular has been a big help, and Reese boasted, "She's 13 and so awesome."
