Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes split

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 6, 2014 | 6 Comments

Ryan Gosling, 33, and Eva Mendes, 39, who dated for two years and at one point discussed marriage, broke up over a month ago, during the Christmas holidays. The two met when they played lovers in the movie The Place Beyond The Pines (they’re pictured at left in a scene from the film), but they have not been spotted together since the beginning of the new year. “They started having problems back in September,” a source confided to InTouch magazine. “They decided to quietly call it off for good around Christmas.”

It appears the two differed over their lifestyle choices, with party girl Eva wanting to go out all the time, while homebody Ryan wanted to stay in. Eva also has been quoted previously as saying she’s too selfish to ever want children, while Ryan stated, “I’d like to be making babies, but I’m not, so I’m making movies.”

Despite that, rumors began circulating recently when it was reported that Eva told LAX airport security that she was pregnant and therefore couldn’t do a body scan. However, her rep later explained that Eva always says that because she doesn’t want to be scanned. In the meantime, Ryan has returned home. An insider told Life & Style: “He packed up and moved back to Canada for a while. He felt like he needed time out of the limelight to refocus.”

good for Ryan. Somehow they seemed odd couple. I think it is Eva who is a bit odd one.

He can get back with Rachel McAdams now. She dumped that creep she was dating. Rachel and Ryan seem perfect for each other, they’re both Canadian, they’re close in age and maybe now that they’ve grown up a bit, and have had bad experiences dating other people who were so obviously wrong for them, they’ll see that they were actually meant for each other.

Yeah… sorry, but if news of the breakup was real, it would have been linked a long time ago. No way the Internet Boyfriend can be single for more than 48hrs before everybody knows about it.

They say that “practice makes perfect”. Isn’t practicing fun?

That sucks for them but the age gap would have probably ended it at some point either way.

@Janice, no matter how badly you want it to be, this isn’t the Notebook 🙂
