South Park creators threatened by Islamic extremists

By Alexandra Heilbron on April 22, 2010 | 33 Comments

South Park MuhammedSouth Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been threatened on a website which spreads radical Muslim propaganda after the animated show depicted the Prophet Muhammad in a bear costume (pictured at left). Depictions of the prophet and Allah are forbidden in Islam. The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com says: “We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.” Dutch filmmaker Van Gogh was murdered by a Muslim radical after his 12-minute documentary Submission 1, about violence against Muslim women, aired on Dutch television. The author of the post, Abu Talhah al Amrikee, told CNN he wasn’t threatening Parker and Stone but warning that provoking Muslims could incite violence. He clarified: “It’s not a threat, but it really is a likely outcome. They’re going to be basically on a list in the back of the minds of a large number of Muslims. It’s just the reality.” ~Alexandra Heilbron

it almost sounds like their plot to the movie bigger, badder and uncut. They have not showed Muhammad or Allah since the 2001 episode super best friends, so they have had to use the censored bar. They have not actually shown again.

Islamic extremists need to lighten up!

  3. Dianne • April 22, 2010 @ 10:34 AM

Give me a break…we make fun of Catholics too…you don’t see anyone threaten lives over that. You’re in North America now folks…now that’s REALITY.

    birdman36… well done.

To quoted Stan Marsh, This is some pretty f*#%ed up sh*t right here!

The atrocities carried out by Muslims (exttremists) and witnessed by many of us in Afghanistan and other similar countries are acceptable and deemed “normal” to them and we Westerners have to accept it and can’t say anything about it.

However, living our lives as Westerners is unacceptable by Muslims and we have to submit or our lives are threatened. In addition, they come into OUR countries and we have to accept THEIR mores and culture or else we are labelled as racists.

Mohamar Khadaffi is now very quiet. It is time to silence these people!

I agree with Diana (and I am Catholic). What gives these people the right to threaten others or incite violence against people? There are many other religions and minorities that seem to get bashed just as much, and they don’t up and kill anybody (generalization.. I’m sure there have been some).

  8. Red • April 22, 2010 @ 11:25 AM

    **sorry, Dianne, not Diana. =)

  9. ACanadian • April 22, 2010 @ 11:55 AM

Donny boy, we have a problem here. Westerners are just as violent as Muslim extremists and our governments have become fundamentalist. We’ve bombed the crap out of other countries for no reason, incited wars and riots in other places, and reduced our own rights and freedoms in the name of security.

Stop focusing on the Muslims, start focusing on the all the people who would reduce your rights and freedoms and kill your sons and daughters, ruin your healthcare, ruin your education, ruin your country. This includes fundamentalist Muslims, fundamentalist Christians, fundamentalist Jews, anyone in support of a dictatorship whether they be fascists or communists, lawyers, politicians, bankers.

i’m a muslim and i love south park. the whole thing about muhammad not being shown came out of the idea that we shouldn’t revere him. there was never supposed to be violence against people who did show him, it was simply to remember that we worship god and not a man. so muslims who get upset when muhammad is shown not only have missed the point, but are misrepresenting islam. thank you trey and matt for keeping it real – i laughed my ass off at the episode!

  11. Phill • April 22, 2010 @ 3:47 PM

i didnt saw anny buddhist threating to bomb or kill anyone for showing buddha snorting coke.. or joseph smith being represented as a guy who made up a bunch of crap in the mormons episode.. being that extremist about stuff that isnt even real is well ”retarded”

    Don on April 22, 2010 11:17 AM

“we Westerners have to accept it and cant say anything about it.” NEVER. I’d rather be dead than silenced.

“we have to submit or our lives are threatened”, again, NEVER, I’d rather be dead.

“It is time to silence these people!” AGREED, it is time to silence the extremists and show them that THEY aren’t God, or Muhammad, or whatever entity they are pretending to represent.

  13. Hogger • April 22, 2010 @ 5:32 PM

My question is, if you’re not allowed to depict Mohamed then how does any one know what he looks like and thus if it is him they are depicting. Oh yea that’s right he looks like a bear, sorry I missed that episode could we get a rerun.

  14. Singh • April 22, 2010 @ 5:52 PM

In general, alot of muslims strongly believe that the world would be a better place if it were Muslim. Just look at what is going on in Ontario. Muslims are starting to flex their power. they are electing their own people and are starting to take away festivals that they feel goes against their beliefs. Brampton is a hot bed for muslims. 5 years from now, Indians, certain Paki’s, and other religious groups will have a hard time be able to enjoy their beliefs within Muslim permission. The Chin Picnic is sometime alot of muslims want canceled.

  15. memon_1 • April 22, 2010 @ 6:38 PM

did you guys see the point of the episode
‘Jesus f***ing Christ’ is a common saying and admit it or not – it is taking ‘your’ lord’s name in vain.

to you it might seem back words and what have you not
but the muslims have protected the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from insults and degrading humor as is applied to your divine characters.

before you argue with this (and you will)
watch the episode and see the point of it
what do the holywood actors want again?

    PEACE (salam)

  16. Red • April 22, 2010 @ 6:56 PM

So, by “defending” their deity, that gives them the right to threaten others? Live and let live.

  17. memon_1 • April 22, 2010 @ 7:10 PM

the muslim people are conservative when it comes to such sensitive matters- if someone vocally attacked another’s mother – what kind of a reaction do you think the former would give? very rarely would it be forgiving.
it is in our religion to defend the abuse of his name –
now if the murder of that previous guy mentioned is justified or not – only Allah knows. i havn’t looked into it. but when you provoke a reaction you’re likely to get one as the person said before he’s not ‘threatening’ he’s just warning

    live and let live indeed

  18. Sonia • April 22, 2010 @ 7:45 PM

Also, Muhammad is not a deity. Please educate yourselves.

  19. Whatsup • April 22, 2010 @ 8:05 PM

    That is seriously messed, man.

  20. Red • April 22, 2010 @ 8:39 PM

I used the term “deity” loosely, again as a generalization, so take your education elsewhere.
I still don’t see the need for mass violence for such a small a thing as that. It might be part of the religion, but I just can’t comprehend it. Maybe they could try to “educate” others about the issue (not force it down anyone’s throat) and maybe they’d get more understanding than pulling out the old suicide bombers.

  21. memon_1 • April 22, 2010 @ 10:46 PM

Red you must have a non muslim background so i understand you not comprehending the sensitivity of the matter. These arn’t suicide bombers that protest, nay they are but the general majority of muslims that cause an uproar. (suicide is haram in Islam just to clear that out – every people have their black sheep)

once more Allah is to judge and im not.

im just showing you that none of this ‘forcing down throats’ would be required if the violence weren’t provoked through mockery of someone so dear to the muslim people.

i hope this helps. and May Allah guide you and see the point of the muslim people

  22. memon_1 • April 22, 2010 @ 10:48 PM

    ACanadian on April 22, 2010 11:55 AM

i couldnt have said it better my self.
Allah’s peace and blessings be on you

  23. Moe • April 22, 2010 @ 11:13 PM

    Ok, so let me understand:
    1. “Muslims come over here because they themselves create troubles in their countries” – Don. FYI, if American politicians stop supporting those Arab dictators, those dictators wouldn’t last a day in power. Muslims over there also want democracy, but if there’s democracy and peace everywhere, then where will US going to use and sell its weapons. Maybe, you should watch the movie: Lord of War.
    2. So Muslims should lighten up and make fun of our Prophet? Actually, Muslims don’t make fun of any Prophets, including Jesus, Moses, Adam, and Muhammad. Religion and Prophets is a very serious topic and should not be taken lightly on any level. It is a very slippery slope. That slippery slope has led American “civilization” to consist of: beer, sex, drugs. Most Americans’ lives revolve around these: Work, go to pub, watch the game, then go to club, get a girl, use her, kick her out of the house next day, go to work, and the cycle starts again. If get married, then divorce is inevitable.
    3. “Those people don’t have to right to threaten others or incite violence.” So, my question is: who gave the right to South Park creators to make fun of Muslims’ Prophet; a very revered figure. If this is free speech, then how about showing the reality of war in Iraq and Afghanistan on US tv? For example: Collateral Murder video on Wikileaks/Youtube.
    4. “Nobody else gets emotional when Hollywood makes fun of their religion or revered figures.” Hmm … so why Indians banned Mike Myers’ “The Love Guru” in India? If my feeble memory serves me right, there were no Muslims in there.

  24. Red • April 22, 2010 @ 11:25 PM

I’m just curious.. looking at this from a theological perspective, would Muhammad be for or against physical violence? I’m looking at this like the whole WWJD thing, except.. well WWMD. I understand that it’s offensive to Muslims, but in the whole scheme of things, is a violent approach the “right” approach? I mean as a part of the religion’s doctrine?

  25. vi kern • April 22, 2010 @ 11:26 PM

I wish I’d never heard of muslim, suicide bombers, al qaeda, jihad; the world was a better place before the civilized world let them in. All those male dominated cultures need to stay in their country or adapt to the western world. Our governments must seriously deal with those who threatens democracy.

  26. ransom • April 23, 2010 @ 12:10 AM

These muslim f%$ks should learn how to take a joke…!

  27. demigod • April 23, 2010 @ 1:33 AM

Hope there’s a 15th season of more religion bashing. Apparently ‘forgiveness’ and ‘non-violence’ are not virtues in some religions.

    I agree.

I think Your All retarded. Everyone knows Religion is crap. its a means to control society and populations. The only thing that happened here is that We evolved and our brains were able to play out scenarios and give us options (think about the future, If I choose A, this will happen, If I choose B, this will happen….) etc etc. with that certain people wised up to that and said ” Dont do this, for if you do, This will happen…” etc etc.. and people believed it. but iif you stop and just think for yourselves, and *try* to imagine a world without religion…. honestly it wouldnt be all that bad. Humans would still know right from wrong, we just wouldnt have all that religion rules and extremest/fundamentalist crap going around.

    Just my 2 cents..

  30. muslimterroristssuckballs • April 23, 2010 @ 1:32 PM

i laugh at the retardedness of these so called muslims who are offended by a cartoon. boo hoo im really feeling sympathetic for them. after these so called radicals did what they did in N.Y. and elsewhere. i have no respect for them, or their religion. i hope trey and matt keep comin out with cartoons depicting allah gettin it doggy style. and bin fag laden playin with saddam and satan. no theres some good laughs to be with the material already out there.
if you dnt like my comments T.S.
    cry somewhere else.

  31. muslimterroristssuckballs • April 23, 2010 @ 1:37 PM

    i also agree with c.
theres no point to ur pathetic religions.
each one is brainwashing people and mind controlling.
i grew up non religious and iam so thankful my family did that because all the religions are crap.
whoever wants to defend religion look around the world?
people dying everyday for these garbage beliefs.
    wake up people.
also my two cents to go with c’s comments.
p.s. the bible is make believe lol
    a drunken folk tale.

As a Muslim, I think these extremist have no right to threaten the South park creators. Yes, we, Muslim’s do mind that they made fun of our Prophet but then again Islam means peace, obedient and submission to the will of God. This could have been settled in a peaceful way. It’s disrespectful, when you do something that you know you shouldn’t, just like the South park creators did.

i think they need to chill. it was a joke..
