Kerry Washington Biography

KERRY WASHINGTON

Date of Birth: January 31, 1977

Born in The Bronx, New York, Kerry Washington graduated from The George Washington University's theater program in 1998. Her feature debut was a lead role in the award-winning indie film, Our Song (2000). Next, she starred opposite Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas in Save the Last Dance (2001), for which she won a Teen Choice Award for Best Breakout Performance.

Washington has also been seen in Bad Company (2002) starring Chris Rock and Sir Anthony Hopkins; The Human Stain (2003) opposite Nicole Kidman and Hopkins; The United States of Leland (2003) with Ryan Gosling and Kevin Spacey; Ray (2005) starring Jamie Foxx, The Last King of Scotland (2006) starring Forest Whitaker and For Colored Girls (2010).

In her spare time, Kerry is an active supporter of the Creative Coalition, a group dedicated to raising awareness of First Amendment Rights and support of arts in education and a new program called Adopt-A-Classroom in New York City.
