Paddy Considine Biography

PADDY CONSIDINE

Date of Birth: September 5, 1974

Paddy Considine grew up on a council estate in Burton-on-Trent. He took a drama course at Burton College, where he met Shane Meadows, and the two formed a rock band called She Talks to Angels. Considine later made his acting debut in a short film about London boxers before Meadows asked him to play a role in his film, A Room for Romeo Brass (1999). Considine's outstanding performance led to another role in the independent film The Last Resort (2000), for which he won a Best Actor award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.

Roles in other movies followed, and he went on to get a British Independent Film Award nomination for his performance in Jim Sheridan's In America (2003), playing an Irish husband and father who decides to move his family to New York, where he believes there will be more opportunity. For his work in Dead Man's Shoes (2004), Considine won an Evening Standard British Film Award as Best Actor. Moving on to the big time, he filmed the role of Mike Wilson opposite Russell Crowe and Renée Zellweger in Cinderella Man (2005).

Considine took a break from acting to write and direct the short film Dog Altogether (2007), for which he won the Silver Lion at the Cannes Film Festival and in 2008, a BAFTA film award.

He and his wife Shelley have a son named Joseph.
