Scott Stewart Biography

SCOTT STEWART

Scott Stewart is a writer, director, producer and technologist.

An accomplished visual effects artist and technologist, Stewart co-founded the well-regarded visual effects company, The Orphanage, which created visual effects for more than two dozen major films including such blockbusters as Iron Man, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead's Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Sin City, The Day After Tomorrow, and Hellboy.

In 2005, Stewart formed Orphanage Animation Studios with multi-Emmy award-winning animator Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of such hit animated shows as Star Wars: Clone Wars, Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory.

Before co-founding The Orphanage, Stewart was a visual effects artist at George Lucas' Industrial Light + Magic where he created visual effects for numerous blockbuster films, including Star Wars – Episode One: The Phantom Menace and Lost World: Jurassic Park. He graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 1991 with a degree in Motion Picture Production.

After making his feature film directorial debut with Legion, he directed the film adaptation of the Tokyopop comic book Priest for Sony/Screen Gems, again starring Bettany, as well as Cam Gigandet, Karl Urban and Christopher Plummer.
