Great movie...I can't wait to get an actual copy of it for my movie collection. I was unable to watch the show when it was on originally...but have since seen a few and read the books.
I really enjoyed this movie...I hope that they make more of the other Earth abilities as well.
ingenuity and digitalization at it's finest!!! can't wait for the next movie in this epic series.. truly a masterpiece. in 3d it was just that much better... :D
Let me start off by saying even though I am teased all the time about it I LOVE M. Night. This did not feel like M. Night, My cousin said that thire were three or four books I think instead of seperating them they should have condensed and made it into one movie. I seemed like a lot of filler and fluff. visuatls were cool then.
I love anime and the way the movie was made its good but maybe could have done alot better.
I was relieved when it was over
This movie was horrible in comparison to the nickelodeon show. The special effects were incredibly unrealistic and the acting was absolutely terrible. The characters were very dissimilar to how they're actually supposed to be and the names were mispronounced continually. Did they even watch the original? Because it's far more enjoyable and entertaining than the film. Fail. Just... Fail
Very entertaining, good story and ok for the kids to see. My husband and I enjoyed it. We'll add this to the family's collection of DVDs.
loved it. Special effects were great. Good story line
Acting is bad and special effects are bad too. Dont worth to pay to see in 3D. So disappointed !
Excellent.
Not a good movie. Weak effects. Weak acting. It needed to be longer to flesh out more of the story, or more plot NEEDED to be cut. Only got two stars because it's worth a laugh if you're a fan of the animated show (like me).
awesome
Really great action sequences and I loved the special effects and CGI work done in the film.
Special effects are the winners in this movie. Fans of the book will be disappointed at the movie. Young movie goers will still enjoy the magical visuals of the movie.
overall not bad. going to be interesting if there will be sequels as the storyline would suggest
Great movie fun for the entire family the 3D and special effects were wonderful
Dialogue was poor. It looked amazing.
The kids loved it!! Ages 8 & 9
The best movie yet...truly loved it...would see it again and again..the only regret is that I never watched the cartoon, would have gotten more out of it..it's hard to condense 20 hours of cartoons into 2 hours..but great nonetheless!!!!
Good special effects; story didn't have a lot of flow; some cast members seemed "flat". Needed character developement to make it a 4 star; strongest point was the special effects
Exactly what M. Night was attempting to do with this movie is unclear. What he does manage to accomplish is a poorly constructed film with wooden performances and bad cinematography. How many close-ups are necessary in one film? Definitely not M. Night's best work. One to avoid.
good movie
the 3D effect is good
Movie was decent. Disappointed in the 3d.
m. night shamaylan has done it again, taking something completely unknown and bringing it to stunning life. great special effects and a great story make this one of the better movies of the summer.
Just saw it two weeks ago and was disappointed. The trailer and advertisement made it seem like it was outstanding it's not! For those people giving this more than 2 stars, you must've seen another movie because this movie sucked! The acting was horrible. And the "chemistry" they tried to build between "UNG" or "ING" or whatever was an utter failure! The dude that acted as the brother of that chick was disturbing to watch. I felt uncomfortable watching it the awkwardness on screen was so bad. The actors seemed like so awkward together. The animation wasn't even good, it was so delayed, he would like do the hand movements and the rock would come outta the ground the next day i swearrr, horrrr
HORRIBLE Acting was Horrible, story sequences were too choppy, 3D was a waste of money and the "bending" was just sad. This movie did not live up to the animated series AT ALL. I had very high hopes from the previews, but I just feel cheated.
I liked the movie, however I think it had low ratings because of the high expectations for constant action all the time. It had a good storyline and ends with room for a sequel which I would return to the movie theatre to watch.
This movie was not that great. I was disappointed by the script. There were parts that were not meant to be funny, but because the words were poorly chosen, I couldn't help but laugh. The movie accurately follows the show. I'm interested to see the next one.
I thought it was good. My 2 sons thought it was AWESOME!!!!!!!
Lousy script, worse delivery of lines and acting. A total waste of studio money and audience money. Burn the negative.
This movie, WAS TERRIBLE. The acting was unbelievably humorous when it wasnt supposed to be. I found the 8 people in the whole theater were chuckling a bit at the poor acting of the kids playing the roles. There were the Native or something extras and then a random family of completely westernized (let's just say "non-Native") people, in big Inuit fuzzy jackets. There were WAY too many little story lines. It got confusing. The 3D was lame, they really got lazy, you couldn't see the difference when you took the glasses off. The script was so lame "You are the only one who can bring peace and love back, avatar, u can control the magically elements etc. There were scenes where "air bender UNG"
The children loved it but I thought it could really have been better. It was definitly not worth seeing in 3D!! What a waste!
good movie. but does leave you knowing it has to have a sequel. should have just extended the movie time like avatar and had a 3 hour movie. some of the acting was lame but as you get into the movie the CG is pretty wicked
I guess you'd have to actually see and perhaps be a fan of "The Last Airbender" to give it a fair treatment on the big screen. M. Night doesn't only not know his subject here, but he also seems to have forgotten everything about "good" filmmaking with this one. Too many close ups, wooden performances, cheesy script add up to one tepid movie not worth seeing. Talk of sequels is craziness! Back to film school M. Night, please!
Wow...just wow...my friend didn't like how most of the main characters were played by white actors...he's weird.
it was boring and nothing really special to see.
I found this to be a good movie, though its abrubt seriousness does not really do the original series justice. Originally, Aang was a fun-loving twelve-year-old with "greatness thrust upon him", so to speak. I found myself picking apart everything the actors said, looking for the funny moments, to see if the writer showed any relation in the script to the television series' original dialouge. The acting was not terrible, as some have said, though I didn't think Dev Patel, great actor though he is, accurately portrayed the difficult part of Prince Zuko. What was the deal-breaker for me, the most bothersome part, was the mispronunciation of almost every characters' name. If you're going to ba
It was okay...some parts were just taken too far and not believable in the least. Definately not his best work.
Bad movie, bad acting, bad directing, bad camera work, bad experience. M. Night hasn't made a decent film in ages and steers this one into the ground. Careless, haphazardly made films like this give Hollywood a black eye. Let's try a bit harder next time M. Night, hmm?
Good graphics and good storyline. Some of the acting could have been better but overall I enjoyed the movie.
How did this film get released? How can a director peak at the beginning of his career? To say this is bad is an insult to the word bad! Over use of close-ups and wooden acting sink this potentially interesting film. Its like watching an entire movie made of first takes.
I found it to be...not great, not as bad as some others are saying. The action was okay. The acting was bad. They were definitely setting up the upcoming sequels...but will they really make enough money to do so? Also, any other director could've been behind this movie. No M. Night presence at all. I saw a trailer for his new movie coming out. It looks better than this one...hopefully he redeems himself there!
Worst summer movie ever! M. Night may want to return to film school if he keeps making turkeys like this one. One of the most poorly crafted movies in a very long time. Smack your thumb with a hammer and you'll be in for more of a good time. Yikes to say the least!
Not for every taste. Actually, not for any taste! The most poorly made film in a very long time. Close-ups and long shots are all this movie contains. Everything is either too close or too far away. What's happened to M. Night? He used to be a great film maker, but this? Yuck!
I thought this movie was awesome... then I saw it. Wooden acting, too many close-ups and a plot about as exciting as a hairline fracture make this one well worth avoiding. What was M. Night thinking? I saw dead performances, limp filmmaking and snore inducing suspense. Two more sequels? No thank you!
Loved the animated series and this movie is true to it
Heh people, this is really a good movie! You won't know if it is good for you if you don't give it a try! I did, and I enjoyed it enormously and I am looking forward to the sequel! Joan 71
I was truly disappointed in this movie... I am almost certain that any Fan of the Avatar: the last airbender Anime who watched this movie have been disappointed... The action was very very weak, the movie was dragging along... and it felt very cramped... M. Night have tried to shove all the first season into one movie and it felt too cramped. There was some nice scenes, the story is nice (since it is based already on the Anime) but all in all it was very disappointing... I doubt that they will go through the rest of the Volumes (Book 2 and 3).
