Jenna Fischer reveals that she plays Heidi Skarlotos, the mother of real life hero Alek Skarlatos in The 15:17 to Paris. She says she read all the newspaper reports about the attack on the train when it happened but didn't know back then all the coincidences that led to the three Americans being on the train, and says the coincidences start in their childhoods, as shown in the film. She believes coincidences like that are a big message in the film, telling us to pay attention to the way the universe is directing your life. Jenna says she gets choked up every time she sees the scene in which Spencer Stone is running towards the terrorist on the train, because he really did it in real life. It's not an actor recreating something and she says that makes the whole film so much more powerful in her eyes. She reveals it was humbling to be in the presence of people like Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler and Alek Skarlatos, who really did something so incredible.
