For the fifth weekend in a row a children’s movie has topped the box office. The animated film Rio remained in the top spot for the second weekend, grossing an additional $26.6 million (all figures U.S.) and earning 3.6 out of 5 stars from Tribute.ca users. Debuting in second place was the family-oriented movie Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family, earning 4 stars from Tribute users and $25.8 million at the Easter weekend box office. For the adult crowd, Water for Elephants starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson was a success, getting good reviews and a Tribute rating of 4.2 stars, while earning a respectable $17.8 million at the box office. The former No. 1 movie, Hop, featuring the voice of Russell Brand as the Easter Bunny, dropped a spot from last weekend to fourth, but not surprisingly, its earnings went up due to Easter weekend, taking in $12.5 million. Scream 4 rounded out the top five, taking in another $7.2 million and getting a 4.2 star ranking from Tribute.ca users.
