Oscar-nominated star of The Green Mile, Michael Clarke Duncan passed away Monday at the age of 54 following two months in hospital for treatment of a heart attack. A statement was released on behalf of former The Apprentice star/Duncan’s fiancée, Omarosa Manigault, stating, “Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.” Duncan’s Green Mile co-star Tom Hanks also released a statement, commenting, “I am terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike. He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic. He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned.” The gentle giant, at 6′ 5″ weighing 300 lbs. but with an unforgettable smile, got his start in Hollywood as a bodyguard for stars including Will Smith and Jamie Foxx. Remembered for his comedic bodyguard character in A Night at the Roxbury as well as countless other roles, Duncan will be missed by family, friends, fans and Hollywood. ~Morgan Bates
