John Travolta and Kelly Preston have decided to stick to the guidelines of the Church of Scientology and have a silent birth. A source close to the family said that this means “no music, no talking and no screaming will be allowed during the pains of labor. Also, their new son cannot be prodded for medical tests or spoken to for the first seven days of his life. You don’t want to do anything that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.” In an interview several years ago, Preston admitted that they’d hoped to have a silent birth when their daughter Elle Bleu was born, but after being in labor for 13 hours, she admits she screamed, “I want an epidural!” Hopefully, this time it’ll go more smoothly. ~Chantelle Rodrigo

Scientology is really weird and freakish. A silent birth? WTF
the only thing that will haunt him is knowing his parents didn’t give him love verbally in his first days….people are so freaking stupid. how many times have studies been done showing the first 2-3 years of a child’s life are the most crucial? imagine the first 7 days?? and what do the doctors do? put the child on the mothers chest so he can be comforted by the beat of her heart. and when you breastfeed its a time for the mother and child to bond. talking is invovled in all this. what a bunch of stupid losers.
I wish them the best, but I don’t know if not talking to a baby is really a good idea.
I completely agree with the second comment. Psychologically speaking, the silence will mess the kid up more than screaming during labour… wtf
Scientology is a made up religion by a bunch of freaks and losers.
Easy for a man to say you cant scream during childhood!!! Wonder if Johnny would be crying for his momma if he had to endure labour!!
oopsss….I mean child birth….
you have gotta be kidding? no scream when you try to push your baby out during birth???!!!!.. Hnn ,Good luck with that. Weird stupid Scientology brain washes people’s head.
LMAO…good luck to Kelly on the “no screaming during birth” part…
I wish them all the best for a great outcome in the delivery of thier son. Involuntary moans etc. is common while in labour. You may not want to make sounds but it happens. The sweet sound of laughter, cheers, congrats and love is normal. Guess some people could tone it down some…. but…anyway..hope mom and baby do well.
The baby’s in the Mom’s womb have been listening to noises, voices of people and their Mom and Dad for quite sometime. So to be silent for 7 days, then suddenly talk to them would be confusing even for a baby. I agree with what – whatever – said as well. If I would have had a baby, I couldn’t wait to talk to him, when he was born!!
I also meant to say, it is part of our Human makeup to naturally want to talk to our loved ones or other people, especially our loved ones. Part of that is talking and saying to your baby, for examble, Welcome into the World and other such loving things. Nowhere in the Bible, not to my knowledge anyway, have I read(or heard) that it said not to talk to your baby for the 1st few days of their Life.
Rita – that is because Scientology has nothing to do with the bible or Christianity.
Scientology was created by L. Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer who has been quoted as saying “Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous, If a man really wanted to make a million dollars, the best way to do it would be start his own religion.”
Turns out to be true!
So pushing a basketball through a garden hose isn’t going to cause someone to make some noise?
push what? you know all of these celebs go in for a scheduled c-section. ‘to posh to push’. sure she can be silent during labour…she is totally drugged up with no pushing.
and i don’t believe the bs about ella’s birth either. i’m sure that was a c-section as well
How selfish and immature to listen to a man who is not a god but a writer. This is what you would call praying to a false god. I am in no means religious, but I know the difference between a cult and a religion.
People and their stupid hair brain ideas. Give me a break. How can you not utter a sound during child birth or coo to your newborn child. It seems as the generation is getting stupider with every passing year. To quote P.T. Barnum “A sucker is born every minute.”
Scientology = Ridiculous
Beam them all up Mr Hubbard !!
Little baby I hope your mommy tells you how much she loves you as soon as you are born,,thats natural.
I think this is a great idea. Imagine the biggest baby Tom Cruise shutting his yap hole for seven days instead of that whole “jumping the couch” debacle. Finally, a scientologist good idea, besides God living on the dark side of Mars with his super sized star cruiser.
I thought having a baby is to be exciting,so screem all you want and hug kiss baby all over and yell to the world its a boy ya hoo,I don’t get it scientoligy to be thrown out the window……….grow up all you stars.
Well, I don’t think this is very good publicity for Scientology! I certainly hope they are going to compensate for the lack of verbal contact by a lot of touching, hugging and kissing. Where do people even get these ideas? Did a baby once say, “Gee, I wish it had been quieter when I was born”? I just don’t get it.
What a bunch of weirdo’s! Good luck with that!
how can John Travolta and his wife really be this ridiculous? The more I learn about that religion the more his fans will fall to the wayside such as me…
OMG. That’s really all I can say. I heard of water births and natural ones with no drugs..but no screaming??? No medical prodding? Um wouldn’t anyone like to remember the birthweight of their child? Know it came out healthy? Might wanna tap it on the bottom or get it breathing in the first few minutes or is assisting in first breath of life not medical? It says the baby can’t be spoken to for first 7 days, but I assume they can hold their baby and maybe hum a tune as that’s not REALLY music is it??
Everyone has the right to freedom of religion, so Fonzie be with you.
They make a cultish religion’s hairbrained doctrines more important than the psychological health of their new little one. Dear Kelly Preston,
I hope your mother’s instinct will guide you more strongly than than the male mind control of your religion.
bless you
So is Ella Bleu all messed up now because of her Mother yelling out during her birth? Look where Scientology got them with their first son!
The first church of Applientology, that’s my churh. We worship our fridges and stoves, etc. Too make sure they work everyday. Just kidding. In reality I agree with most who say things, like talking to the child in the womb and after birth, are important, so the child knows you are their safe place and will always be there to sooth their sorrows. I respect them both as actors other than that I do not know enough about them or their real life, having said that, Scientology = Ridiculous. IMHO 😉
Do they not think that maybe some of their 1st sons problems stemmed from not being spoken to for the 1st important days of his life?
Good Luck being silent when you feel like your insides are about to explode! Scientology is nothing but CRAP. I feel sorry for these women who get sucked into this CULT. Where is there common sense to believe in such utterless nonsense?
well don’t know much about scientology but what has religion got to do with science I think it is a load of crap and good luck Kelly don’t know anyone who didn’t make a noise when giving birth and as for not talking for 7 days that’s a crock of and what if in the first 7 days the little one needs medical care what then I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. But then maybe this is a Hollywood Movie promo and who believes in the rubbish you read in tabloids. I like Travolta anyway and I don’t think he is that stupid to let anything happen.
After 7 days of silence, when they do finally make any noise it’s probably gonna scare the crap out of the baby
ahaha noodle, i was thinking the same thing. the poor baby is going to think theres no such thing as noise and then BAM everyones gonna be talking and excited over the new baby. lol. poor little guy.
i think the be silent thing is a bunch of crap. the mother isnt allowed pain killers, she isnt allowed to make any noise, and from what i read when katie holmes had her baby, they take the baby FROM the mother for the first 24 hours its alive and they dont let the mom hold or cuddle him/her. as far as im concerned, anyone thats stupid enough to go along with such foolishness probably shouldnt have children.
to the one that said “look what scientology did to their first son” and the one that said “didnt they think some of his problems were because no one spoke to him for the first 7 days” the first 7 days of a childs life, the child wont ever remember anyway. speaking, not speaking, it doesnt make a difference. a baby doesnt learn anything within the first week it is born, but to blame someones “religion” on the reason their son had problems and died? thats a bit psychotic in itself, isnt it? children dont grow up with mental problems or issues because someone did or didnt speak to them in their first week on the planet.
didnt scientology kill their last kid?? wake up you bunch of dummies before you loose another child to this stupid crap!
i honestly don’t see the difference between scientology and any other “legitimate” religion. SO the guy made it up in recent years, well, someone made the other ones up long time ago. But..they’re all made up no? i mean..if god or jesus made up chrisianity, how do we know now that hubbard is not a godly being now? maybe many years from now scientology will be as mythological/religiously true as christianity is now? point being, HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE!?? you accept ur own religion, f***** accept others’!
