Filming in New Zealand: Weta Workshop

Weta Workshop was founded in 1987 by Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger. Filmmaker Peter Jackson soon joined them, bringing prominence to the special effects company with early films such as Meet the Feebles and Heavenly Creatures. But it was his The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001 to 2003) that brought Weta worldwide fame and major Hollywood actors to New Zealand for filming.

We were invited to have a look at the filming locations for Ghost in the Shell, which was shot in Wellington, New Zealand. Check out a gallery of photos we took of Weta Workshop and some of the filming locations for LOTR, Pete’s Dragon and Ghost in the Shell.  ~Alexandra Heilbron
