Chris Evans biography
Avengers: Infinity War
Date of Birth: June 13, 1981
Raised in Sudbury, Massachusetts, Chris Evans, whose mother and sister were stage actresses, decided to follow in their footsteps when he was in his early teens. By the time he was 13, he made his stage debut at Concord Youth Theater. He followed that up with a two-man play Fallen Star, in which he played a boy who had died, and who has conversations with his best friend, who's alive.
At 16, Chris found a summer internship with casting agent Bonnie Finnegan in New York City. He established rapport with several agents, and asked if he could audition for three of his favorites. They all agreed, and all of them wanted to sign Chris on as a client. Finnegan recommended Bret Adams, who told Chris to return to NYC in January for pilot season. Back in Sudbury, Chris took extra high school courses so he could graduate early.
Having graduated, he returned to NYC as promised in January, where he landed a part on a television pilot called Opposite Sex alongside other up-and-comers such as Milo Ventimiglia. The show was picked up and Chris discovered shooting would begin in Los Angeles in the fall.
The series lasted only eight episodes, but in the meantime, Chris established himself with a role as Judd in the TV movie The Newcomers (2000) and with a guest appearance on another TV series, The Fugitive (also in 2000).
Soon after, Chris made his feature film debut in the big screen comedy Not Another Teen Movie (2001). In 2004, he showed up in three more features: The Perfect Score alongside Scarlett Johansson; Saved (2004) with Mandy Moore and the thriller Cellular , in which he played a young man who gets a cell phone call from a kidnapped woman (Kim Basinger).
He achieved another level of stardom when he played Human Torch/Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four film series, then climbed to greater heights as the title character in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).
Other movie roles include starring opposite Dakota Fanning in Push (2009) and with Michael Cera in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010). In 2012, he put on his Captain America suit once again for Joss Whedon's highly-anticipated blockbuster The Avengers. In 2015, he starred in Playing it Cool (2015) and in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). He returned to reprise his role as Steve Rogers in Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
Chris took a break from his superhero role with the lead role in the drama Gifted (2017), in which he plays an uncle who has custody of his math prodigy niece.
Chris lives in the Los Angeles area with his mixed breed dog Dodger, whom he picked out at an animal shelter while filming Gifted (2017). He named the dog after his favorite character from the Disney animated movie Oliver & Company (1998). Chris, who has dated actresses such as Jessica Biel and Jenny Slate, prefers not to talk about his romantic life.
