The Toronto International Film Festival is officially underway, with Torontonians on the lookout for stars and anticipating tonight’s big gala premiere and parties.
Tweeters have already spotted Olivia Newton-John at Starbucks in Yorkville, in town for the world premiere gala presentation of Score: A Hockey Musical tonight at the Visa Screening Room at 6:30pm and Roy Thomson Hall at 8pm.
Meanwhile, Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush have also arrived in Toronto (stopping by the Tribute interview suite on Thursday) ahead of the premiere of their film The King’s Speech tomorrow night at Roy Thomson Hall.
Firth was charming, say Tribute interviewers, and spoke about how hard it was not to stutter for about two weeks after he finished shooting the role of King George VI. He also talked about being nominated for an Oscar last year and what an honour it was to be included in that "club."
Meanwhile, Geoffrey Rush spoke about working with Firth and the wonderful and immediate bond they had making the film.
David Suzuki was also at the Tribute interview suite today, ahead of the screening of the documentary Force of Nature: The David Suzuki Movie on Saturday. According to interviewers, Suzuki is an inspiration and told Tribute he was vulnerable shooting the documentary.
In other celebrity sightings, Zach Galifianakis, Emilio Estevez, Aamir Khan and even a Joaquin Phoenix impersonator have been seen on the streets of Toronto on Thursday!
Seen any celebs around town? Let us know on Twitter: @tributemag or on Facebook.
