Crowds swarmed around Elgin theatre in the hopes of catching a glimpse of Conviction’s celebrity studded cast on Day 4 of TIFF. Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Juliette Lewis and Minnie Driver were among the stars that turned out for the premiere of actor-turned-director Tony Goldwin’s latest crime drama.
Hilary Swank stars in the true story of Betty Anne Walters, a single mother inspired to pursue law school after her brother was wrongfully convicted of murder.
Describing her as a personal hero, Swank told the Canadian Press that she wanted to understand where Walters "passion and drive and unconditional love came from for her brother."
Sam Rockwell, who said he felt a genuine responsibility in portraying his real life counterpart, plays Walters’ convicted brother, and appeared on the red carpet alongside girlfriend Leslie Bibb.
