The short of Dee Rees’s film Pariah was featured in the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and the full-length feature was premiered on Day 5 of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, a “fairytale” for Rees.
In an interview with Bonnie Laufer of Tribute, Rees explains how the film was envisioned as a feature, shot as a short, then expanded once again as a feature. She also shares her challenges and hopes for the film.
