Comedian Kim Wayans takes on a different kind of role in the film Pariah, where she plays a conservative mother in Brooklyn whose daughter is living a secret lesbian life. She dropped by during the Toronto International Film Festival to talk with Bonnie Laufer about what she thought of her “complex” character, being taken seriously as an actor, and what it was like growing up in the Wayans household (with the famous Wayans brothers).
