Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception) and director Rian Johnson (The Brothers Bloom) have not worked together since Brick (2005), but that doesn't mean they aren't a good team. In fact, Rian wrote the role of Joe in Looper specifically for Joseph. Set in 2072, the film depicts a world in which mobs are able to send their hits 30 years into the past where someone like Joe, a “looper,” waits to take care of the job.
Joseph, who is quickly on his way to becoming one of the most prominent actors in Hollywood, was not always the big star he is today though, posing the question: How did Rian know the young actor would be able to handle this role?
Bonnie Laufer from Tribute caught up with the reunited pair to discuss just that—plus how people reacted to Joseph's transformation into a young Bruce Willis and how the directors he’s worked with in the past influenced have influenced his recent directorial debut.
