Filmmaker Mika Kaurismaki’s newest film, Road North, follows the relationship between a father and son when the father returns 30 years after abandoning his family. Tribute's Bonnie Laufer spoke with the famed Finnish director about how the project all started, as well as his talent for casting—his two main actors (Samuli Edelmann and Vesa-Matti Loiri) had outstanding chemistry on the big screen. Because of this, Mika luckily only had one big ego to deal with instead of two. Mika also speaks to how his film's music inspired him (his two leads are also successful musicians), and how he made sure to include a scene where they would be able to show case their musical talents.
