In an intimate chat with Tribute.ca, director Derek Cianfrance reveals that the inspiration for his latest film, The Place Beyond the Pines—the story of a motorcycle stunt rider struggling to provide for his family—came to him before the birth of his second child. The film gave him the chance to work with Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, and as it turns out, it what daytime soap influenced the project.
