The second gala premiere of the evening at Roy Thomson Hall is Last Night in Soho. This one has a clever plot that involves a young woman (Thomasin McKenzie) who travels back in time and becomes involved in the life of a singer (Anya Taylor-Joy) in 1966. The stars arrive on the red carpet beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m., and the movie begins at 9:00 p.m. There's another screening of this film on Thursday September 16 at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

The Power of the Dog (pictured above) stars Benedict Cumberbatch as a complicated rancher who stirs up trouble for his brother (Jesse Plemons) and his brother's new bride (Kirsten Dunst). It premieres at The Princess of Wales at 5 p.m. this evening. The film also screens at 8:30 p.m. this evening at the Visa Skyline Drive-In at Ontario Place. Can't make either of those? Catch it at 4 p.m. today at TIFF Bell Lightbox, or on Saturday September 18 at 6 p.m., also at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Mysterious events in the wake of a freak motorcycle accident sow the seeds of a new religion in Dug Dug, from director Ritwik Pareek. You can enjoy this film at the Cinesphere IMAX Theatre starting at 4 p.m. Can't make it? It also plays Wednesday September 15 at TIFF Bell Lightbox, 1:30 p.m.

For night owls, Titane is screening as part of Midnight Madness, starting at 11:59 p.m. at the Princess of Wales Theatre. An automobile accident leaves disturbing consequences in this unflinching foray into human extremity from director Julia Ducournau.
