The 2023 Toronto International Film Festival has wrapped up and announced the prizes. TIFF's most prestigious award, the People's Choice Award, went to American Fiction, directed by Cord Jefferson and starring Jeffery Wright. The first runner-up was The Holdovers directed by Alexander Payne and the second runner-up was The Boy and the Heron directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
The TIFF 2023 People’s Choice Documentary Award winner went to Mr. Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe directed by Robert McCallum. The first runner-up was Summer Qamp directed by Jen Markowitz and the second runner-up was Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa directed by Lucy Walker.
The TIFF 2023 People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award winner was Dicks: The Musical directed by Larry Charles. The first runner-up was Kill directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and the second runner-up was Hell of a Summer directed by Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk.
