This film tells the true story of exiled Cuban novelist and poet Reinaldo Arenas, who lived in
Castro's Cuba and as an exile in New York, following the 1980 boatlift. He died in 1990 of AIDS.
Based on the book of the same name by Reinaldo Arenas.

Wow, I watched this movie for the first time last night (10/23/2004), and I was impressed, happy, and sadened all at the same time. Although HIV has been affecting the Gay community since 1981, it is rare you come across a gay man like Reinaldo Arenas that can be a role Model to many people facing adversity! He is now one of my heroes, and his work has made him immortal!
