Edwin Boyd: Citizen Gangster Movie Synopsis

The story of notorious Canadian bank robber Edwin Boyd (Scott Speedman), beginning with his return from duty in the Second World War. Dismayed by public indifference toward veterans, humiliated by his inability to provide for his children and his wife Doreen (Kelly Reilly), and seeing only disappointment in the face of his policeman father (Brian Cox), Eddie resorts to unlawful activity.

What starts as small time bank robberies, evolves over time—and with experience—into a career that turns Boyd into postwar Toronto's public enemy number one.

Canadian Connection: Filmed in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Most of the cast members are Canadian.

not just a true story but a true story about toronto. i generally really like true stories and i liked this one very much. one thing i liked was one of the guys looked like a young christopher walken. that was cool. but any way, it was a good story with interesting history points.

a good historical look at a nearly forgotten figure

based on a true story. scott speedman did a wonderful job portraying edwin boyd. at the end of the movie you learn why he is the "citizen gangster". i would highly recommend this film. a must see!
