Under the influence of a hallucinogenic drug, high school senior Gabriel and his best friend Yves break into a deserted house one night and ransack it. Caught in the act by a neighbor, the two boys accidentally kill him while trying to escape. The next day, when they realize there's nothing to connect them to the crime, they agree to a pact of silence. Shortly after, Yves leaves St-Hyacinthe to attend a school for firemen. Meanwhile, Gabriel, who was raised by his police woman mother, suffers from misery and remorse. He gives up on his budding love for a classmate and, suffering from mononucleosis, jeopardizes the school year. His last hope of salvation is to go to Yves and convince him to break their pact and tell the truth.
