In this remake of the 1934 film
Death Takes a Holiday,
Brad Pitt plays the part of Death himself, who comes to earth to learn more about life. While he's on terra firma, and absent from his customary duties, no one can die.
Death's tutor is
Anthony Hopkins, who plays a wealthy businessman with everything yet nothing. The Grim Reaper eventually falls in love with Forlani, a woman, quite literally, to die for.
Just saw this on TV and I think I'd prefer no-numb root canal to 3 hours of watching Brad Pitt staring blankly and mumbling cryptic phrases. The last 45 minutes I was begging the real death to come along and put this film out of our misery. Hopkins was his usual brilliant self but he couldn't carry this dud for that length of time.
Truly mysterious and the soundtrack is breathtaking.
I loved this movie. It was great! I never saw the original, but, I think I`d like to. All of the actors played their roles so well. I think I might just go watch it again!
