Savage Messiah Movie Synopsis
Set in Ontario during the 1980s, Paula Jackson, a social worker, is approached by Lise and Suzette, two Québécoises asking for governmental help for their commune. In order to assess their living conditions, Paula visits the place. There she discovers that the commune is in fact a sect controlled by Québécois Roch Thériault, who is called Moïse by his disciples. Paula soon realizes that Roch is a sadistic manipulator, and decides to devote all her time to neutralize Thériault.
i thought it was very interesting.
The movie was so good that I hope it`s based upon a book, as I`d love to dig further into the subject.
Polly Walker is superb in her role as Paula. She plays her character with the required emotion, not overdoing it. She is one the most promising actresses given more good and serious roles and like this one, where she can prove easily that she is an Oscar-winning potential actress.
