Five people are killed in a freak accident when a rope bridge collapses. Brother Juniper (
Gabriel Byrne), who witnesses the accident, sets out to find out more about those who perished in the tragedy and embarks on a quest to prove that it was divine intervention rather than chance that led to the deaths.
