The Quiet American Movie Synopsis

A murder mystery centered around a love triangle set against the French Indochina War in Vietnam, circa 1952. This is the true story of a veteran English journalist (Caine), a young American (Fraser) and the beautiful Vietnamese woman caught between them. This is a world where nothing is what it seems -- suffused with opium, intrigue and betrayal.

Excellent revision of the movie made in the 1950s of Graham Greene`s novel and true account of CIA intervension and terrorism in Vietnam during the US led war. This movie correctly portrays the characters in Greene`s novel whereas the 1950s movie flips the characters around and thereby makes it seem as the terrorists are the North Vietnamese. It is generally held by many scholars that the 1950s movie was made by a CIA operative to prop up popularity for the war. The only complaint about this movie is that it should have had a bit more character and background historical development. Otherwise, excellent and applicable to today`s events.

worst movie brendan fraser has ever made. he was great in it but the story line was crap. next time the writers should atleast try

Good acting all around, but too short (90 min.). Couldn`t give 5 stars because the voice track overlay didn`t match lip movement.
