Alain Moreau (
Gérard Depardieu), an aging nightclub singer, meets Marion, a young real estate agent when her boss takes her to a dance hall where Alain and his band are performing. Alain tries to charm her and though she spends a night with him, the next day she is indifferent and pushes him away. So in order to spend time with her, Alain pretends to be searching for a new house.
