Based on the 1994 best-selling book by Paris-based journalist Freidoune Sahebjam, The Stoning of Soraya M. relates the true story of Soraya (Mozhan
Marno), a young Iranian woman who was falsely accused of adultery and subsequently buried to her waist and stoned to death by fellow villagers in 1986.
An excellent movie. Great story, well acted, very moving.
"just another movie depicting a muslim country as backwards and retarded, which is not the case. it may be true, but the bias in story telling was clear"
Uh-huh. Isn't this the country that just blamed the women for the earthquake they just had. Oh yeah. They're not backwards or retarded at all.
An excellent movie that made me more appreciate the value of living in a relatively free society. What is even more important, is the fact that this freedom and justice apply to both men and and women in the country in which I live.
