When her mother remarries, an eight-year-old girl's life becomes a nightmare. Her mother turns a blind eye when Michelle is raped by her stepfather. Later on, the girl turns to stripping, drugs and eventually prostitution, where she receives further abuse from her pimp. Michelle is paroled after a stint in prison on drug charges, but while out, commits a murder and finds herself on death row. She receives regular visits from Bishop Jakes, and eventually opens up to him, detailing the years of painful abuse she suffered as a child. Based on Bishop
T.D. Jakes' book and play of the same title.
This movie is good for those who watch it and at the same time are currently in a similar situation because it may in fact make whoever has turned a blind eye take a second look. For those who are now dealing with the pain of their past, this movie doesn`t stress enough on how to stop blaming yourself. I understand completely why "Michelle" did what she did, but it doesn`t teach us the right lesson. Perhaps allowing "Reggie" to have enough time to truly realize he himself stold the life of an innocent child would have been a positive thing. Not many of us ever get the chance to hear anything close to a sorry so it`s almost like "Michelle"
