Bestselling author Tom Clancy, whose novels were made into numerous films, died yesterday in hospital following a brief illness. The author, who made his home in Baltimore, Maryland, was 66 years old. His spy and military thrillers that made it to the big screen included The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, The Sum of All Fears and the upcoming Jack Ryan, starring Chris Pine. He also wrote the stories for two TV movies and created numerous video games for video game developer Red Storm Entertainment, which he co-founded. Born in Baltimore, Clancy was married twice. He leaves behind his wife of 14 years, Alexandra Marie; their daughter, Alexis; and four children from a previous marriage to Wanda King: Michelle, Christine, Kathleen and Thomas Clancy III.

    My mom is beside herself!
Too bad, I still think Hunt for Red Oct is a great flick. Who will step up and make new great military suspense and dramas like his movies and books now?

Am reading his book “Power Plays: Shadow Watch” right now. Have loved all his books that I’ve read. He’ll be greatly missed.
