“Dexter” fan kills little brother

By Alexandra Heilbron on December 11, 2009 | 98 Comments

Andrew Conley mug shotAn Indiana teen who idolized television serial killer “Dexter” has been charged with murder. Andrew Conley, 17, murdered his 10-year-old brother Connor by choking him until he bled, then putting a plastic bag over the boy’s head, using electrical tape to secure it around his neck. At the time, their parents were at work. He’d apparently planned to kill his father next. When questioned, the teen told police he “just felt like” Dexter, from the Showtime show of the same name. Prosecutor Aaron Negangard told Cincinnati.com: “He’s a cold-blooded murderer, he spoke with no emotion, no remorse, in describing the death of his brother. This was a deliberate murder.” After making a stop at his girlfriend’s house, Conley dumped his brother’s body in a wooded area. The 17-year-old was charged as an adult in Ohio Circuit Court, a decision that his parents supported. His parents did not attend the hearing, which was held at the same time as Connor’s funeral. No one from the Showtime series has commented on the case. Meanwhile, this week’s episode of Dexter, starring Michael C. Hall and Julie Benz has brought in its highest numbers yet with over 2.1 million viewers tuning in. ~Alexandra Heilbron

Wow, it’s scary how some people idolize their favorite characters so much that they will do something like this. I really feel for his parents, they have basically lost both of their sons.

  2. Jeremy • December 11, 2009 @ 9:51 AM

So why don’t they Ban the show then… If kids teens adults are killin each other from this show.

  3. kris • December 11, 2009 @ 10:05 AM

Banning will do nothing…its up to the parents to not allow them to watch tv…or that person…to decide what is right from wrong…

  4. Jason • December 11, 2009 @ 10:22 AM

The show has nothing to do with it. This kid has to have had major psychological problems to begin with and Dexter was just something he could relate to. If it wasn’t Dexter it would have been Hannibal or something else.

  5. Marjean • December 11, 2009 @ 10:26 AM

Yes.. this show is intense, but remember Dexter stands for justice, NOT abuse. Dexter (Michael C.Hall) would not condone nor applaud a senseless, heartless act, like this one! This boy… “Andrew”, who murdered his brother, is not only without feelings as Dexter is portrayed, but this Andrew Conley is without conscience. A key missing ingredient if he were truly a Dexter follower. And if you really watch and follow the show “Dexter”, you learn underneath it all he really does have a whole battery of feelings. Loyalty to family being most prominent! Dexter would not approve Andrew Conley’s actions!!!

  6. Nuncio • December 11, 2009 @ 10:34 AM

This idiot would be a PERFECT victim for Dexter. I can almost picture the scene…
Leave shows, music, books alone; they don’t make these monsters.

  7. philip • December 11, 2009 @ 10:44 AM

It is why we need to have the ability to thin the herd, there are bad seeds among us and there are teachers , Police and social workers, friends family and religious leaders who can see the evil at an early age, we should have the right to euthanize these kids as early as possible, Paul Bernardo showed early signs of sadistic behaviour as did Jeffrey Dalmer, this kid is no different and I am sure his parents can look back and see early signs of a twisted person.
The problem is most mothers who have children who killl will live in denial, and there are always women who will idolize these creeps , think Charles Manson.
Save money, pain, and heartache, introduce testing to eliminate the problem at an early point in the lives of these twisted, depraved people.

  8. Andrew • December 11, 2009 @ 10:58 AM

Too bad he didn’t get the high score, maybe next time.

  9. Shelly • December 11, 2009 @ 11:13 AM

I don’t give the show the time of day!

  10. Nancy • December 11, 2009 @ 11:16 AM

I totally agree with Marjean and Nuncio.

Philip: Please don’t put the blame on us women.

  11. Brandi • December 11, 2009 @ 12:07 PM

This is a truly tragic situation! That young man (Andrew Conley) must be deeply disturbed to have committed something so horrific as to kill his own brother.

The TV show Dexter should NOT be blamed for this young mans crimes, as the Dexter character does NOT kill innocent people and limits his actions to proven criminals. The Dexter character would be disgusted at this crime.

If there is something to come from this tragedy it should be an awareness of mental issues in children and young adults; and programs to reach these people before they commit crimes.
Not the blaming of a TV show.

  12. Sam • December 11, 2009 @ 12:17 PM

euthanize this kids as soon as possible Phillip, that just sounds stupid. There is no such thing as an evil child, only a misguided one. This is hardly any sadistic behaviour, this was an act of a disturbed youth. TV and movies don’t cause people to kill, it can cause a trigger in their mind. But when it comes down to it, it is up to the person to walk away, everyone has the capacity to think for them self even if they have brain damage. I’m tried of movies and tv being blamed for bad choices people make in life, it is not their fault. It’s like people say guns don’t kill people, the dumb@$$ holding the gun does.

  13. beast • December 11, 2009 @ 12:19 PM

you are totally right Brandi, I agree with you.

  14. Tammy • December 11, 2009 @ 12:39 PM

Euthanizing anyone based on any factor is a very slippery slope and NOT one I would want in the hands of any politician, which you KNOW would be the policing body. Ridiculous.

Psychologists can’t even agree on the nature/nurture issue, how the heck would they agree on a 100% certainty of “evil” within someone… and profiling evil is a very subjective, think of Dubya calling middle easterners the ‘Axis of Evil’… I’m sure from their point of view, us westerners are the source of decadent evil excesses. Be careful what you toss about, lest it be tossed back on you. :p

  15. Tammy • December 11, 2009 @ 12:40 PM

To blame a TV show, video game, movie or anything is pointless… these behaviours existed before any of these medias did. It is a weak minded person that seeks the easy scapegoat rather than seeking the true answer.

Educate people on mental health issues, which are more and more prominent these days with levels of stress and the decay of proper support systems/values. Allow for early testing, cognitive therapy and/or monitoring for those that require it. Until either are done, society is full of ticking time bombs with access to more information on how to commit these crimes as much as how to get away with them.

  16. Judy • December 11, 2009 @ 1:04 PM

Why they even put these shows on the air is beyond my comprehension. Sicko’s everywhere.

  17. Todd • December 11, 2009 @ 2:37 PM

JUDY lock yourself in the closet you donk !! Why do they come out with movies, horror action gore etc.. on tv as well. I am guessing you would rather watch sesame street all day all night long, it is amusing to me when people say blame the show because it really shows how STUPID that person is in a brief sentence

What a bunch of fools, I watch and play all kinds of horror related crap and do you see me killing anyone NOPE !! because i know that would be wrong!! and if did i would proubly tell the cops the same excuse.. a movie or videogame just so it does not look like i am a cold blooded killer with no remorse just deflect some of the blame.

but the kid/killers are the ones that need professional help and the people who blame it on movies/tv/games as well.

Nucking Futs Judy…lol you made my friday…lol

  18. Jeremy • December 11, 2009 @ 3:18 PM

I can picture this guy in that movie. THE CUBE 2 HYPERCUBE lol sorry I just had to say that

  19. appalled • December 11, 2009 @ 4:29 PM

    I normally don’t comment, can’t be bothered.

Today, however, I am appalled to see this story posted by Tribute under the category of “Hot Gossip”.

Tribute, what were you thinking?!?!? Let this family grieve in peace.

  20. Moviefan • December 11, 2009 @ 4:56 PM

This section isn’t called Hot Gossip, it’s called News and Gossip. Since this is news, and it’s related to entertainment, I don’t see a problem with Tribute posting this story.

  21. Nessa • December 11, 2009 @ 5:17 PM

The kid is using it as an excuse. They do it with Marilyn Manson and every other heavy rock band. The kid has probably ALWAYS had these tendencies for psychopathic behaviour and relates to the show. It’s not the show that makes people this way. It’s what’s going on in their minds and their parents. Sorry to everyone that’s looking for an easy excuse.

  22. seriously • December 11, 2009 @ 5:50 PM

It is sad that this happened. But people blaming the show are crazy. The show has nothing to do with it. There are so many tv shows, movies etc out there that have violence etc and blaming what he did on the show is just dumb. I everyone thought that way there would be no tv and no movies or music for that matter. He did what he did cause there was something the matter with him NOT DUE TO THE SHOW

  23. Christopher King • December 11, 2009 @ 5:54 PM

Spare me the comparison, since if the kid had truly wanted to feel like Dexter, he would have emulated him better.
    Cheap ploy for a story.

  24. Zolal • December 11, 2009 @ 5:58 PM

This kid really was sick. I feel bad for the family and I believe he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison for what he did.

  25. Matthew • December 11, 2009 @ 6:10 PM

Dexter is one of the best shows on tv and to any one with any sense it is obvious this was going to happen with or without the show. To blame something based on popular is a cop out and it is absurd.

The Dark Knight is one of the highest grossing films displaying a murder and know one has followed in his footsteps.

  26. Monique • December 11, 2009 @ 6:30 PM

philip – you’re an idiot who sounds like you, yourself, have been abused by one too many woman in your life.
You are no better than Andrew. Andrew posts blame to a TV show, you post blame to woman. Seriously, who scares me more? YOU!! He’s locked up, you’re still running around.

  27. quinn • December 11, 2009 @ 6:40 PM

He was disturbed way before Dexter was on the air. He should be sentenced as an adult and punished that way as well. The parents must mourn a dead son. The other should not be thought of as a son but as a cold blooded killer. He’s seventeen, he knows right from wrong.

  28. Chris • December 11, 2009 @ 6:48 PM

    wow…..
    im speechless

  29. Mark • December 11, 2009 @ 7:22 PM

I have to agree with many of the other commenter’s, the issues psychological issues that ended in this tragedy steam long before the TV series, and to place ownership on a fictional TV show or game is to mask the reality of a situation that was probably a long time coming. I admit, I have yet to catch up on my PVR episodes, so I can’t comment if Dexter has changed his ways, but to equate blame to the show, wouldn’t there have to be a closer “copy cat” resemblance to the deaths portrayed in Dexter.

  30. ndg • December 11, 2009 @ 7:23 PM

if he wanted to feel like dexter, than he should have killed a real killer. Instead of his little brother, that’s messed up!

  31. LC • December 11, 2009 @ 7:34 PM

“Andrew Conley, 17, murdered his 10-year-old brother Connor by choking him until he bled, then putting a plastic bag over the boys head, using electrical tape to secure it around his neck.”
If he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, I hope he gets life with no parole. Death would be too easy for him. I don’t care if he is 17, killer is a killer.
I have a 10 year old brother whom I love dearly, and children are innocent. He could have beat up his brother, like boys tend to do, but to proceed with the actions stated above is heinous. I feel so sorry for the parents and the little boy who had the life squeezed out of him.

  32. TJ • December 11, 2009 @ 7:36 PM

We have a Dexter copycat murder here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada from this past summer that has yet to go to trial, research it if you want the info on the case but it’s another Dexter copycat.

  33. mandee • December 11, 2009 @ 7:41 PM

i agree with most of the posts on here. i disagree with the posts blaming the tv show for a teenagers choices in life. Marjean on December 11, 2009 10:26 AM your comment was perfect. i agree completely and wish i could possibly say it better (but i cant). i didnt read ALL the comments, the last little bit i stopped reading because of headaches. but, i think this is a very very sad article. imagine being the parents to these children and knowing that the first child you raised is the reason for your second childs death. imagine the guilt, pain, fear, agony etc these people are feeling. i really hope they dont stand behind him and support him through out his trial. (for some reason it made me think of the kaylee anthony case and how her parents, even after they found out she murdered her baby, stood by her through her trials and stuff.) it doesnt matter what happens on tv or in movies. anyone that watches them is well aware of the fact that its all make believe. you cant use someone else as an excuse as to why YOU chose to murder/rape/beat someone.

  34. jago • December 11, 2009 @ 9:32 PM

People do not learn how to become psychopaths they are borne. There is so much research on the subject. Rather than blaming television programs or other entertainment sources, take a chance, read a book and learn something.

  35. Nancy • December 11, 2009 @ 11:50 PM

Don’t forget, “He’d apparently planned to kill his father next.”

Don’t forget, they can’t keep this psycho locked up forever either…creepy thought, isn’t it?

  36. demigod • December 12, 2009 @ 1:05 AM

    Sure improved Dexter’s ratings!

  37. kyle • December 12, 2009 @ 1:09 AM

wow is all i have to say. dont blame the show!

  38. ashley • December 12, 2009 @ 1:10 AM

obviously this kid has a problem, i didnt read all the comments but the one about banning dexter?? the news is worse than dexter. are we going to ban that too? the fact that he felt like dexter was stupid cuz dexter doesnt kill innocent people. wow. blame everyone but the kid huh? he was 17. hes sick. a show didnt make him like that, its no ones fault. sh*t happens. people lose it. i would like to say im hurting for that family, losing both of their sons… i cant imagine losing my two boys especially like that. people should be praying for them not bashing their kid or some tv show. the news used dexter to catch peoples attention. obviously, it worked.

  39. Monique • December 12, 2009 @ 5:09 AM

My boyfriend made me a Hall and Oats CD tonight and made me listen to it. By the end of it, I wanted to kill myself. Does that mean I can blame Hall or Oats…or both??

  40. Detox • December 12, 2009 @ 5:54 AM

How pathetic. I hope the show doesn’t get canned because of this moron. Stupid idiot. If I was his parents, I’d get a gun and kill the little bastard my self. Seriously, this kind of shit only happens in North America. And his brother was totally innocent, he didn’t “kill anyone else” or “got off easy” to deserve a death. Stupid people man, they should be wiped off the face of the planet.

  41. Kim • December 12, 2009 @ 10:17 AM

Detox: Similar stuff (but worse) happens in the middle east. Women are killed by their brothers, fathers or husbands all the time and no one bats an eye. They don’t even get sent to jail or questioned.

  42. Sandi • December 12, 2009 @ 10:54 AM

It’s Horrible when these things happen, also unfortunate that the immediate response from some people is “Ban Dexter!!”. Really? Are we so uneducated that we believe the people responsible are the crew of a television show? So we should also ban the bible, the beatles, freedom of speech, all things directly related to murder, even genecide. The kid was obviously sick and if he didn’t watch Dexter he saldy would have hurt himself or someone else eventually anyway. He was just a coward who put the blame where it doesn’t belong.

  43. Sue • December 12, 2009 @ 12:01 PM

actually, moviefan, it is posted under a section called ‘Hot Gossip’ – I see no mention of ‘News’ anywhere. The fact that Tribute posted this is not the issue – the issue is how they classified it. Nothing short of sensationalizing a hugely tragic event.

  44. Sue • December 12, 2009 @ 12:13 PM

Those who want to blame the show itself for this event are trying to rationalize the unrational. If only it was so easy …

  45. Larry • December 12, 2009 @ 12:16 PM

    i don’t watch it anyway

  46. jean • December 12, 2009 @ 12:50 PM

    BAN THE SHOW????

    He is a freaking Psychopath.

What Ban vampire Flicks coz kids want to bite?
Ban TV shows because people want to start killing
Ban harry potter?? because kids jump of buildings with a broom stick hoping it would fly
Ban FOOD because 70% of AMERICA IS GROSSLY FAT

The problem is not with TV, Youtube, Movies
    the PROBLEM IS WITHIN US..

    SO FIX YOLURSELF

  47. shiela • December 12, 2009 @ 1:56 PM

regarless of what tv show, movie, video game someone idolizes, people kill for stupid reasons. long before the invention of electricity, they have killed. some people are mentally ill, some are not. either way, when you can kill your own family members, you must be ill.

  48. Nancy • December 12, 2009 @ 2:45 PM

    Agreed, Sheila.

  49. PM • December 12, 2009 @ 3:49 PM

Look what fuss they made over Adam Lambert kissing a guy. But you won’t see them fuss over murder and violence. Americans have wrong priorities.
I say love and kiss eachother on TV instead of killing people.

  50. Cindy W • December 12, 2009 @ 3:56 PM

This goes out to all of those persons who have yet to study psychology, and so are not aware of the direct statistical relationship between the increase in violence with increased exposure to violence (fact). This is part of the negative trade off for our freedom of speech and, in particular for this case- expression. This tv show is not entirely responsible for this incident, but it did contribute to it. It’s like poking at an already angry animal- if left alone, it probably (but not absolutely) won’t attack, but if antagonized the odds of an attack dramatically increase. Also, the more we are exposed to violence, the more comfortable we become with it, which is a documented fact (and not a conscious choice such as some here have suggested). Just like cruel behaviour to animals desensitizes us to the same towards fellow human beings (almost all serial killers started with animals). Obviously the majority enjoy greater mental health and stability and so do not end up acting out the extremes, but without these violent shows, human acts of violence do decrease (again documented fact). A current lucrative trend in society is vicarious living through various mediums (including video games and film) in order to experience extremes they wouldn’t otherwise. Further proof that we are all desensitized by our increased exposure to violence is by the ratio of cynical and flippant responses, as opposed to the very few who even bothered to express any sorrow for the family and the young 10 year old boy. His last experience on this planet was of utter horror, he won’t any longer have opportunity to sit with friends by a camp fire on a quiet night by a lake, let alone indulge in vicarious violence. Keep up the vigilant defense for your show though, after all they’re stictly motivated by maintaining your freedoms not by unscrupulous greed.

  51. Jamie • December 12, 2009 @ 4:13 PM

I think that they shouldn’t ban the show , it’s not meant for people to take seriously and it can’t just be blamed on the show, maybe the kid is just f***in crazy?

  52. Jane • December 12, 2009 @ 9:10 PM

by blaming dexter, they’re just looking for an easy excuse. it’s so easy to say the influence came from music, or television, movies, or video games, when in reality, most people should by the age of 10, if not younger, be able to tell right from wrong. it’s called fiction for a reason.
this kid deserves to be locked up until he dies. what he did was souless, and completely unforgivable

  53. Lisa • December 12, 2009 @ 11:20 PM

omg that is awful but you know what i watch Dexter and i love it but im not going to go and kill anyone the show is fantastic and those who dont know he doesn’t kill people for sport he kills bad people and he has a family he has never hurt them and he loves kids this kid obviously had more problems then just liking a show give it a rest saying because a TV show made him do it that is a cop out the kid needs help and Dexter Is number 1 i have calenders i want clothes i love Micheal c Hall NO EXCUSE FOR KILLING BROTHER OR DAD OR WHOEVER IS NEXT

  54. ke • December 12, 2009 @ 11:23 PM

terrible, awful, horrific, tragic, sad, disappointing, frustrating…there are no words. such a shame. and i;m glad his parents went to the funeral instead of the hearing, this guy deserves no sympathy. but then again, there’s somehting clearly wrong with him…could this be a mental problem? he’s a sociopath, no?

  55. Steph • December 13, 2009 @ 1:29 AM

A kid killing his little brother in such a gruesome fashion is very, very tragic. My heart aches for the little boy’s parents, and I bet they can’t believe they have such a monster for a son. Obviously, this kid had some unbalanced, mental or sociopathic issues. This kid is 17, old enough to know right from wrong. He will get life.

Dexter can’t be blamed, but perhaps shows like this play a part somewhat in fueling the “fire” of dillusional behavior.

    Very sad.

  56. Nancy • December 13, 2009 @ 2:13 PM

Cindy W: Just because many (including myself), didn’t express their sorrow for the young boy and his family, doesn’t mean we don’t feel their pain. That’s just a given. Of course we feel bad for them!

  57. Katelynn • December 13, 2009 @ 2:55 PM

We can’t blame a TV show for this. This kid was obviously very disturbed to begin with. We would have to cancel almost all shows and movies if we banned everything with murder and violence. This kid needs some serious help. Also, Dexter doesn’t just go on killing sprees, he kills murderers…not saying killing anyone is OK, but I think this kid misunderstood who Dexter is.

  58. Helene of Toronto • December 13, 2009 @ 3:23 PM

Well now someone or thing had to be blamed and isn’t Dexter the latest.

  59. Candy • December 13, 2009 @ 6:49 PM

This murder has nothing to do with the show. The child is probably a sociopath and would have found a reason to murder his family that had nothing to do with Dexter if the show had never existed. What someone watches, sees or listens to is very rarely at fault… it has more to do with how they are wired.

  60. susan • December 13, 2009 @ 11:29 PM

just another sick twisted white mind..whats new…

  61. Jen • December 14, 2009 @ 12:15 AM

If people feel the need to an this show take a look at other shows and movies out there in society. Look what the media is doing. I did a study about violence in the media and it’s ridicules. People need to stop relying so much on media and technology these days people have lost touch with real COMMUNICATION. Stop letting society brain wash children and get back in touch with the REAL life. Open your eyes to what’s happening and the impact that it’s having on today’s children.

  62. Jen • December 14, 2009 @ 12:25 AM

People need to get out of the house more, have game night, go for walks, swimming, anything. As one person said ban food commercial unless it’s encouraging healthy eating. Most of societies obesity is due to TV and impulse buying. People need to grow up, smarten up, open their bloody eyes! They didn’t have TV’s way back when, go back, research their crime rates. People just want to make a buck now-a-days and don’t care about the outcomes. Get back in touch with what really counts!

I heard of the show “Dexter”; I know his character is romanitized and no shown as a deranged freak. What do people expect…Of coarse someone is going to copy him. Self worth is low on most of the shows today. Human value is of no value. What about positive wholesome CLASSY shows…Try to find one- IMPOSSIBLE! I know what the show “Dexter” is about, but I would never watch it, I consider it to be more crap on tv………….Garbage for the mind.

  66. silver • December 14, 2009 @ 6:11 PM

    Cindy W on December 12, 2009 3:56 PM

You are absolutely correct in your comments. People in general don’t realize the cumulative effects of their environment on behaviour. They tend to look at an issue as black or white. It is very likely true that this boy did not watch the show and get “the idea” from it to kill his brother. But you are right that studies have shown that being exposed to certain things lead to desensitisation.

The mind is a very complex thing, and to say that watching Dexter had absolutely no effect on his behaviour is as naive as saying that it was the sole cause. Unfortunately, we can’t predict the effect on everyone of every item in the environment. Just like someone can smoke 2 packs of cigarettes every day for 70 years and not get cancer. This isn’t to say that shows like Dexter should be banned because they might cause harm in an extremely small percentage of the population; but we should be aware of potential cumulative effects and ensure there are other balancing influences.

  67. Tina • December 14, 2009 @ 6:14 PM

Michael C. Hall should send this kid a letter condemning his actions and mourning his 10 year old brother. That might get Andrew’s attention, nothing else will.

  68. joe • December 14, 2009 @ 8:16 PM

This is B.S. Dexter is a great show I think the world of him, but will i go commit murderr? NO its so silly it wont effect thae show because of one wack job!!

  69. Kay • December 14, 2009 @ 11:26 PM

Andrew killed his younger brother without remorse or feeling….sounds like a sociopath to me, and I don’t think that’s something he just ‘picked up’ from watching a TV show(or listening to music, playing a video game, watching a movie, or having ‘crappy’ parents)

  70. Carol • December 15, 2009 @ 12:04 AM

wow, lots of good comments on this one. So for a kid to be that cold and lacking remorse would make me think that maybe there were some signs that the family didn’t pick up on. I know one of the boys who did the Columbine murders was said to have acted really no different by his mother, nothing that would stand out, but this sounds like a kid who has no heart. And some kids are just born that way, no conscience. They feel no remorse and just are full of anger, and it seems that they are that way pretty much from birth. Those are the dangerous ones. And whoever said it above is right, Bernardo & Hamolka, Dahmer, they all had issues. They all abused animals when they were younger, and Karla Hamolka killed her own sister. I feel so bad for the parents…we all have unconditional love for our children so how do you ever deal with something like this? I just can’t imagine to lose one child and how would you ever be able to look at the other? They really lost two children and it is beyond unfortunate.

  71. Jo-Anne • December 15, 2009 @ 2:10 AM

Sharon, that is the direction I expected the show to take…

Well, I have to say it – violence in the media contributes violence in our society, but I find it hysterical that a specific tv show gets the ‘blame’. We are bombarded on a daily basis by the media to the point we become numb. I can say I’ve never watched 98% of the horror movies out there, & that I’m proud of it. I don’t see why watching a ‘virtual’ decapitation is funny….

I think it should be obvious the disturbed boy made such a shocking quote for publicity – which is exactly what he got! Because he probably thought hey, if I bring up a censorship debate & blame a tv show, maybe people will forget the abhorrent things I did to my brother. And what I find VERY disturbing, is that more people aren’t picking up on it!

I say we ignore him & his disturbing & violent behavior, let the courts do their job, and focus on the grieving parents & the child they lost. Does anyone know if they’re starting a memorial fund, etc? I think a good idea would be to see if one could be started in the younger boy’s name – a scholarship for teens that actively combat violence in some way. What do the rest of you think?

  73. tributegirl • December 15, 2009 @ 11:13 AM

MJ, I think that is a really great idea.

  74. gypsy • December 16, 2009 @ 4:35 PM

Of course the parent’s went to their son’s funeral, wouldn’t any parent? As someone stated above a parents love is unconditional and I believe in time they will be sitting right beside their other son in court. When the shock wears off and they seek help for this heinous act, they POSSIBLY will be told that the oldest son had a mental problem, such as a chemical imbalance or some other problem that caused him to snap. The Dexter show is a perfect excuse for his lawyer to use for the kids defence.I believe he will never see the inside of a jail cell, personally I see him being held in a mental institution,to get much needed help, perhaps for the rest of his life.Remember the Jonbenet case, they still haven’t solved it,and I believe someone in the home killed her!!Also Holmoka is out running around free, and she killed her own sister. My own opinion is she killed the other 2 girl’s herself, while her old man was at work and blamed it on him.Yet HER PARENT’S
stood beside her, knowing full well that their daughter killed her sister, and all the rest of the depraved crap that she was involved in.I won’t be surprised to see this guy’s parent’s (at some point), standing by him before this trial is over!!!!!!

  75. Thibz • December 16, 2009 @ 5:14 PM

Wow this is one sick SOB. He should recieve the death penalty if it is accepted in his state.

  76. tributegirl • December 16, 2009 @ 9:53 PM

    Agreed, Thibz.
gypsy, not only is Homolka free, but she’s now married and with a child of her own.

  77. gypsy • December 17, 2009 @ 4:04 AM

Tributegirl that just proves the justice system is deaf, dumb and blind!!Where the hell is she hiding out??I feel sorry for the child.I wonder if her husband knew what kind of monster he married?

  78. demigod • December 17, 2009 @ 6:21 AM

If Homolka’s husband doesn’t know of her past, HE is deaf/dumb/blind!

  79. Jo-Anne • December 17, 2009 @ 8:21 AM

    I would think that’s obvious, d.g., no?

  80. Nancy • December 17, 2009 @ 5:32 PM

    Many things are obvious, “nut”!

  81. J • December 17, 2009 @ 7:48 PM

It’s scary how some people are too stupid to know the difference between real life and TV. But, since both parents were both at work, they probably let the TV raise their kids, instead of instilling some morals into them, through REAL parenting. Parenting means knowing what your kids are watching on TV or on the internet and CARING ENOUGH to try and regulate it. These type of parents are why our society is going down the hole.

  82. Nancy • December 17, 2009 @ 10:48 PM

So….now it’s his parents fault? The kid is 17…shouldn’t need a babysitter or for mommy to watch him 24/7 anymore. A “nut” is a nut…whether mom is home or not.

  83. gypsy • December 18, 2009 @ 6:17 AM

Demig..Dec 17TH 6.21am. As to my questions to TG, if you have an answer to them feel free to reply,I am very interested in the answers. Now to your flippant reply, her husband would be deaf, dumb, and blind that is possible!I didn’t have you pegged for a idiot, but it is possible her husband does not know. The last I heard she had gotten out of jail, changed her looks and her identity.I’m sure you have heard of people doing the same thing and moving to a different country! No! Well some have hidden for over 30yrs without anyone knowing their true identity. That is the reason I had asked TG,as I had no idea she was married or had a child. So if you do know more about her true where-abouts I would be greatly interested !!!

  84. Nancy • December 18, 2009 @ 5:33 PM

Gypsy: He is an idiot though, LMAO! Probably is a diddler from some other country and changed his name and location too.

  85. tributegirl • December 18, 2009 @ 7:06 PM

gypsy, she had changed her last name to Teal, I don’t know anything about changing her looks. But from what I know, her husband DOES know her past, married her anyway, they live somewhere in the Bahama’s I believe, and have a little boy. Not sure if they have had any children since, but I’m thinking he must be around 2 years old or so by now. Also not sure of the husbands name, or if she changed her last name to his. But I believe she should not be allowed to keep her child, in fact I believe she never should have tasted freedom again.

  86. rich harris • December 18, 2009 @ 8:20 PM

hey the show dexter isn’t to blame i agree, but i bet if this kid said heavy metal music made him do it you would all jump on that bandwagon.

  87. tributegirl • December 19, 2009 @ 12:05 PM

Not really, rich. I love heavy metal, as do two of my children. If we did something like that, music would not be to blame, we would be to blame ourselves. The show Dexter is not to blame, this little sh1t in the picture above is to blame. He can try to shift the blame all he wants, but the fact is HE did it, HE is to blame.

  88. gypsy • December 19, 2009 @ 10:46 PM

  90. Nancy • December 20, 2009 @ 2:14 AM

OMG! I better go get my dictionary! Hahahaha.

  91. Jo-Anne • December 21, 2009 @ 7:16 PM

  95. kathy • October 1, 2011 @ 6:27 PM

this show needs to be taken off every station – you wonder why our children do such horrific things – watching shows like this and not being held accountable for such actions

  96. Jake Taylor • October 31, 2011 @ 3:55 PM

Wow.. This kid Is just like the copycat of dexter like the man he killed in season 2

  97. KitKat • May 29, 2012 @ 7:48 PM

What? He felt like Dexter? What an idiot. Dexter would have NEVER killed a child. Nor an innocent. If he wanted to feel like Dexter he would’ve killed someone bad 😛 stupid kid.

  98. Paul • September 26, 2013 @ 10:40 PM
