Oscar-nominated actor Jackie Earle Haley knew he had his work “cut” out for him when he accepted the challenge of taking on one of the most iconic figures in horror film history. When Robert Englund announced he’d hung up his claws forever, Haley stepped in to play the infamous Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street, a re-imagining of the 1984 cult classic horror movie.
Tribute’s Bonnie Laufer brings us this exclusive behind-the-scenes feature where we hear from Haley, director Samuel Bayer and some of the cast about working on this very scary flick!

i am SOOO excited for this movie. i cant even wait. i wish they had have done it in 3D. i am going some time next week 😀 freddy was always my fave killer because he was unique. i plan to watch the original the day i go to see this. my fave was wes cravens new nightmare.

It is hard to imagine the boy from Bad News Bears and Breaking Away in this type of role.
I wish they’d stop doing re-makes…it takes away from the originals.
i think making a more modern version of an older movie is a good thing. a lot of people wont watch old movies (me generally being one of them) but they will watch the remake. when they remake a movie and i am aware its a remake, i always watch the original one before i see the remake. some of them turn out quite good. i loved the first remake of halloween, the second one was retarded. they even made michael speak and grunt while he was killing people in the second one, totally ruined the entire thing for me.
I don’t like remakes either, but I think that might be a generational thing.
The thing I don’t like about remakes, or movies made from TV series, is that they usually change the story to ‘modernize’ it to be appealing to a different audience. Often it isn’t a remake, but a new movie, borrowing an established title and characters to gain more interest in it. It ruins the ‘feel’ if the original and trivializes its art and originality.
i found the last house on the left stayed pretty true to the original story, did you watch both and what are your thoughts on that one?
