jian_ghomeshiIn a new twist on the growing Canadian scandal, a former York University student is alleging that Jian Ghomeshi fondled him while they worked together at York’s Federation of Students, where the former CBC host was president. This is the first time a man has come forward alleging sexual abuse in regards to Ghomeshi. Jim Hounslow told The Toronto Star that back in 1990, after a meeting at a university pub, Ghomeshi grabbed him through his jeans. “With no warning, he just reached over and grabbed my genitals and started fondling them. I was completely shocked and I reacted,” he said.

Hounslow said many of his fellow York students felt “emotionally damaged” after dealing with Ghomeshi. Another student, Kerry Eady, said residence advisers had been warned about his behavior. “There was no accusation of date rape, but [students had told the residence advisers] that he’d hit them, and one of them had been choked in the stairwell,” Eady said. Students were allegedly warned to be careful around him in co-ed bathrooms as well as stairwells.

Several women have come forward to speak about unwanted violent sexual encounters they’ve had with Ghomeshi and Toronto Police have finally started an investigation based on the reports. CBC has also begun a major investigation into workplace harassment after two former employees and one current came forward with allegations. ~Kelly Townsend
