Oliver Reed

Oliver Reed was as famous for his personal life as he was for his professional. A hard drinker and partier, Oliver was filming Ridley Scott’s award-winning epic Gladiator in Malta when he went out for a night of drinking at a bar and reportedly consumed eight bottles of beer, three bottles of rum and numerous shots of whiskey the night he died of a heart attack May 2, 1999 at age 61. Since most of Reed’s scenes had already been filmed, his face was digitally created for a handful of remaining shots. He's pictured here in the 1969 MGM feature film Women in Love.
