Soldier threatens to kill Miley

By Alexandra Heilbron on October 30, 2009 | 54 Comments

miley_cyrusA 22-year-old soldier named Sean Christian Mathis showed up on Miley CyrusThe Last Song movie set in Georgia this past June and when he saw Miley’s stunt double, allegedly shouted, “Hey, it’s Miley Cyrus, I’m going to f**king kill you.” Police chased Mathis down and arrested him for disorderly conduct and making “terroristic threats.” When Mathis informed police he was a soldier, they called the military police, who took him back to his base. Officials announced this week that they’ll proceed with the case. Meanwhile, a 53-year-old man who was arrested twice during on the set of the above-named movie after claiming he was engaged to the teen and that she sent him messages through her Hannah Montana TV series, has been cleared of all charges after a jury ruled there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute.

I wish people would leave that young girl alone. I happen to be a very big fan of Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana and I am getting sick of all the publicity (mostly negative gossip) that the media keeps printing about her. As far as the two men who were attempting to get to Miley, all I can say to that is “Thank God For Security”. My granddaughter is even into Miley Cyrus, we watch Hannah Montana together when we can.

  2. NADA • October 30, 2009 @ 11:30 AM

my daughter love her.if she knows she will cry/

  3. kali • October 30, 2009 @ 11:55 AM

And how do these people actually get ON the set of any movie let alone Miley Cyrus’.

  4. Solider • October 30, 2009 @ 12:20 PM

    Too bad he didn’t succeed.

  5. sandra • October 30, 2009 @ 12:46 PM

for valentina and nada, could you please tell us, in all sincerety, just what it is that your grandaughter/ daughter love about Mila…I have no doubt that it will be something shallow…your job may be to steer them in the direction of loving elsewhere.

  6. sandra • October 30, 2009 @ 12:48 PM

    dah…

  7. loolas • October 30, 2009 @ 1:11 PM

Miley Cyrus needs to go away. Her and her big teeth and gums. Bleh.

  8. Appalled • October 30, 2009 @ 1:13 PM

OMG – For all the haters, you think you would have better things to hate. You don’t know her, and if you don’t like her charater then do not watch. But stop slamming people that do. And to the Soldier who said to bad he didn’t succeed you are a disgrace to your country. Enough said!!!

  9. Jo-Anne • October 30, 2009 @ 1:28 PM

“I have no doubt that it will be something shallow”

what a nasty thing to say, sandra and yet you ask for the response as to why their youngsters like Miley to be in all sincerity???

Are you implying that anyone, let alone younger audiences have to come up with some “valid” reason (in your eyes) to justify personal enjoyment of this entertainer otherwise risk being insultingly labelled shallow should the reason not measure up (in your eyes)?

  10. Albert Einstein • October 30, 2009 @ 1:29 PM

@Appalled – learn how to write.
    1. Charater?
    2. “But stop slamming people that do.” Is not a proper sentence.
    3. Starting a sentence with “and” is incorrect as well, even if its capitalized.
    4. Too bad , not “to bad”

  11. Joshua Meier • October 30, 2009 @ 1:37 PM

Uh oh! I’s the grammar and spelling police!!

  12. Joshua Meier • October 30, 2009 @ 1:43 PM

Oh and for an actual comment…

My daughter also likes Hanna Montana, and why not? She is young and pretty (I know some of you think otherwise), has a good humor and good fashion sense and not to mention, the girls could also have much worse role models than her.

I think that everyone needs to chill about this really. This is show business, and crap like this happens all the time, i would think you people out there would be used to it by now.

  13. Appalled • October 30, 2009 @ 1:46 PM

To Albert Einstein: Read the message. Perhaps you get pleasure over critique grammar and making yourself feel superior. Is your other name Soldier and you happened to take offence to my comment? Move on. People have the right to their opinions but implied violence or hate should not be tolerated.

  14. Kanuck • October 30, 2009 @ 1:47 PM

With all the crap that is going on in the world today, I would think that comments would be better spent on how to get rid of all the garbage and politial bulls— that makes up for this wonderful world we live in, Miley is a future Paris, Brittany or any other airhead looking for attention, she is getting it good or bad, it comes with the territory. Can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

  15. Jo-Anne • October 30, 2009 @ 1:50 PM

I heartily agree with your last sentence, Appalled, couldn’t have said it better….totally intolerable…

  16. Dancer 94 • October 30, 2009 @ 2:13 PM

If you do not like her why do you continue to comment onanything about her? I dont know if it was Kanye West or T-Pain that said but your haters are your BIGGEST FANS. In many ways it true. I like Miley. Miley is Miley. She’s her own person and what you say about her when you could be doing something else ( GOD ONLY KNOW WHAT) she’ll still be her and be on top as one of the most FAMOUS girls in the world LIKE ughhh! Mileyyyy<3 5 star chick. She’s not perfect.I know who cares. YOU DO. LMAOOOOO. dumb idiots, find somethime GOOD to hate on… or go lose some wait you jealous friggers.

  17. john • October 30, 2009 @ 2:31 PM

Just another example of the hypocracy in the USA. The soldier should be cleared of all charges. He did nothing wrong.

  18. Mary • October 30, 2009 @ 2:48 PM

Ahh the price they pay for stardom. She’s just another girl making millions from people who idolize these stars. This probably won’t be the last time this happens there are a lot of sick people out there. She’ll have to learn how to deal with the negativity as well as the success. If I were her I’d be shaking in my boots wondering when the next nut case was going to jump out of the bushes.

  19. kristen • October 30, 2009 @ 2:50 PM

wow thats pathetic, leave that poor girl alone..
she just wants to be a normal teenager f***

  20. Ben • October 30, 2009 @ 3:16 PM

I am not sure why all you guys feel the need to put Miley down. Personally I am not a fan of hers, but she is just like most any other famous person out there. She was not just given what she has today, she did put effort in to get there. If you are all willing to shoot her down, why are you not out there attacking Dakota Fanning, or Hayden Panettiere?

Ever single person on this planet has made poor decisions, or made a mistake at some point in their life. The only difference here is that people are so enthralled with the life of these famous people that there is nothing they can do or have done that everyone does not know about. All of their mistakes are made public, while all of your mistakes can easily stay hidden away.

It is fine that you are not a fan of hers, but there is no need to go around and make fun of the people who are, or to put her down just because she is famous and has something you may want. So I think all of you people with nothing but negative things to say need to grow up and find a better way to spend your time.

  21. Ryan • October 30, 2009 @ 3:28 PM

Hey did anybody else hear that Michael Jackson died?

  22. Diane Antoniak • October 30, 2009 @ 3:45 PM

Well I like miley and I watch her show every night and I think that people need to leave her alone and get a life.

  23. Thibz • October 30, 2009 @ 5:38 PM

Do you all personally know Miley…? Because your all making comments like “Leave her alone”. Did you ever stop to think she probably doesnt even read these comments and probably could care less.
The real winner here is her Dad Billy Ray Cyrus with his song Achy Breaky Heart (if thats even spelt right) ahahaha.

  24. Nasa89 • October 30, 2009 @ 6:29 PM

Leave the poor girl alone, shes young, I wonder how her father feels about all this ppls threating her, how would you feel if you were famous, and ppls threating to kill or etc, well at least youll all know how she feels about this. I know her personally. Ive met her twice. she seems like a nice decent young girl. I dont understand why people would be sooo stupid to hurt such an innocent young woman, whose doing movies and tv shows for us. I want to be famous, I wouldnt want to be threating with my life. Not my thing. So leave her alone.

  25. tributegirl • October 30, 2009 @ 6:35 PM

Ben, great comment, I totally agree. I am not a fan of Miley, can’t stand her to be quite honest, but no one has a right to threaten her like that. I hope that soldier is punished, and I hope that 53 year old gets help, it sounds like he has some mental issues going on. Mostly I hope they are able to keep Miley safe from people like these.
To the person commenting under the name Soldier, you are one sick puppy.
sandra, I don’t think it’s your job to tell other people how to raise their children/grandchildren.
john, he said he was going to kill her, THAT is wrong.

  26. Dawn • October 30, 2009 @ 6:43 PM

I don’t know but my worry is How can these people with mental problems obviously keep getting either No charges or just probation. That scares me more then anything. But I guess I am different. that is my worry, not what the world thinks about the poor girl.

  27. tributegirl • October 30, 2009 @ 6:48 PM

Agreed, Dawn, I also wonder how these people can get near someone like her. Obviously famous people are more likely to be targeted by people like this and need lots of security, and I’m assuming she HAS lots of security, so how do these people keep getting so close?

  28. heidi • October 30, 2009 @ 7:39 PM

hey! everybody! maybe if we get on with our own lives, look at whats really happening, all these so called stars will end up doing what every one else is doing.what humans are supposed to do, that is.nothing special.save us some bucks too !they’re not worth it!
The real talent is all around us! Look. See !

  29. Bree • October 30, 2009 @ 8:41 PM

    Poor Miley 🙁

  30. Awesomeness • October 30, 2009 @ 9:41 PM

OMG-People like just leave her alone. How would you feel if you were in her situation? Really like holy crap people! There are more problems in the world than just what Miley wore one day! Jeeze!

  31. whateves! • October 30, 2009 @ 9:48 PM

i totally agree wit the people that are being negative about this because the money and the publicity is going to her head! like her video party in the usa! she is so losing it now!!!!!!!

  32. tributegirl • October 30, 2009 @ 9:51 PM

That doesn’t mean she deserves to have her life threatened.

  33. mandee • October 30, 2009 @ 9:53 PM

i didnt read all the comments because im really tired today. i think its disgusting that someone who is supposed to protect people would be willing to threaten a teenager. the worst part is, he is TRAINED to do actual physical harm, usually resulting in death. dont they check peoples mental health before they train them how to kill people? i feel really bad for miley, she must be so terrified. shes only young, so im sure she took the treat seriously.

  34. Wendy • October 30, 2009 @ 10:26 PM

Jealous much!!!!!! Stop judging others and take a look at yourself. No one deserves to have their life threatened.

  35. Nitwit • October 31, 2009 @ 2:47 AM

    Hey Einstein,

    even if its capitalized?

    s/b even if it’s capitalized.

  36. Tina • October 31, 2009 @ 8:22 AM

I think that Miley Cyrus is an awesome Actress and Singer. With all the negativity going on in here, maybe you should find something better to talk about and stop trying to control the whole message board. If you don’t like her then go somewhere else and make your own page for people who don’t like her.

  37. mandee • October 31, 2009 @ 12:01 PM

i meant threat not treat lmao.

  38. Shauna • October 31, 2009 @ 1:59 PM

    Joshua Meier on Oct. 30 @ 1:37 PM….AGREE!!

My daughter likes Miley as well and neither she nor I have to justify that to anyone. No one deserves to be threatened, including children/teenagers. How would any of you feel if someone came to your work and threatened to kill you? Or went to where your child is and threatened to kill her/him? Especially someone who has sworn to ‘Serve and Protect’!

‘arrested him for disorderly conduct and making “terroristic threats”‘…??? Hmmmm…well, he obviously said and did more than what this article is reporting, because he only threatened her according to the article. “terroristic threats” sounds like he may have been threatening to blow up the building.

  39. joe • October 31, 2009 @ 2:04 PM

    damn, crazy poeple.

  40. Lloyd • October 31, 2009 @ 7:51 PM

This was blown way out of proportion in my opinion.
1.) Miley Cyrus was never actually even there, therefore in no real danger.
2.) Even if the man yelled that, he was just probably expressing his dislike in an exaggerated way. It’s like saying “Ahh I hate you” to your friend when they make a joke about you.
3.) The real focus point of this story is that this set needs better security because this guy managed to walk on to it. That’s the real story.

In conclusion, no poor Miley. Poor stunt double getting yelled at for no reason at all.

  41. tributegirl • October 31, 2009 @ 9:26 PM

How do you know Miley was not even there? And there was real danger, to the stunt double, if he thought it was really her and he really tried to kill her, yes, that is a danger. Saying he was going to “f****** kill you” to a teenage girl he doesn’t even know is more than expressing his dislike in an exaggerated way.

  42. purpleorchid • October 31, 2009 @ 9:41 PM

it sounds to me like that soldier needs help from dr phill!!!!!!!!!!!!hahahahahahaha.joanne are you this sites monitor you fn crusty ass b@@chhahahahahahah.

  43. mandee • October 31, 2009 @ 9:51 PM

Lloyd on October 31, 2009 7:51 PM so what if it was her stunt double? he still threatened to kill MILEY meaning if he found out it was her double, he would have still intended to harm/kill MILEY. so yes, she was STILL in danger. also, i dont care if he meant it as a “joke” or “exaggeration” and fyi the “real focus point of this story” is miley being threatened by a soldier that is CAPABLE of carrying out his threats…see the article title. if it was about security dont you think it would say something like “security needs to be improved on mileys set” ??

  44. FD • November 1, 2009 @ 12:24 AM

Both men need psychiatric help. One more than the other. Say no more.

  45. The Audience • November 1, 2009 @ 6:01 PM

LMAO…It’s amazing how people just froth at the mouth at stuff that is really none of their business.

What the soldier said was uber-dumb, but it had about as much substance to it as a ghost (used that since we’re just coming off halloween).

  46. mandee • November 1, 2009 @ 8:38 PM

just because youre dumb enough to think the threat wasnt serious, doesnt mean it wasnt. hope it was all spelt right in a bit drunk lol

  47. JAG • November 2, 2009 @ 1:14 PM

Ben said iit best. I don’t particularly like Miley Cyress but both my girls do and they are old enough to make up their own minds. There are much worse role models out there and I am sure that there are better ones too. They both enjoy her music and her TV show and are not really interested in her personal life. I totally agree with Mandee that it is scary that the military would train someone so obviously unbalanced to kill. I also can’t beleive that the authorities did not punish or incarcerate them at least for mental help after these kinds of threats were made. Any threat should be taken seriously. That 53 year old man sounds dillusional. I’m not sure what Miley did to make so many of you wrters hate her so much but you should get over it. I am sure that there are much bigger issues out there to be passionate about.

  48. Jo-Anne • November 2, 2009 @ 1:50 PM

JAG, I think the scary fact is it’s many times the exact opposite – not “obvious” with such unbalanced people….hence priests/teachers/hockey coaches/parents who molest/abuse, etc…..

I highly doubt any organization would knowingly train such a person…

  49. Albert Einstein • November 2, 2009 @ 6:16 PM

    @ Appalled

No, I’m not “Soldier”, although his comment is funny as long as you’re not someone who takes life too seriously.

No implied violence or hate here; I just find the whole discussion funny, and your misuse of the English language even more amusing.

Anyone who actually cares about any of this is pathetic.

  50. Galileo • November 3, 2009 @ 5:15 PM

“Anyone who actually cares about any of this is pathetic.” Albert Einstein on November 2, 2009 6:16 PM

And yet here YOU are genius. Laughable.

  51. Albert Einstein • November 3, 2009 @ 9:25 PM

We all are, its a waste of time, but I don’t care if someone kills Miley, why would I?

  52. Nancy • November 3, 2009 @ 11:18 PM

Because then there would be no music for the poptarts!! 😛

  53. D • November 19, 2009 @ 4:45 AM

seriously people get a life!!!!!!!!!! your exchanging insults about a young girl, she is just a child you all need to grow up. there is more important things in life then judging others, who died and made you god? get over yourselves. and for the soldier it is pretty scary that someone like that is suppose to be defending our country i thought soldiers were suppose to be trying to stop terrorist attacks not promote them. and what is his issue with this kid anyways????? My dad just died and i am sitting here unable to sleep thinking of how he talked about man needing to be there for one another. and then i run across garbage like this you should be ashamed of yourselves. attacking a kid, seriously move on and get over it!!!!!

  54. Kara • November 21, 2009 @ 4:34 AM

you know you don’t have to like someone to sympathize with them, if a soldier threatened a strange kid on the street would anyone think differently, no, a threat is a threat, no one wants to hear anyone was threatened nevertheless a kid, i can’t believe that one “soldier guy” from the top said that, seriously hope it’s you next time that gets threatens or someone you care about maybe you will react differently, any of you who don’t think this is a serious thing just think how you would feel if it was you on that set when he said that, how would you react, answer that
