Why David Letterman banned Spring Breakers director

James Franco appeared as a guest last night on David Letterman’s Late Show to promote his new movie, Spring Breakers, and asked why the director of the film, Harmony Korine, was banned 15 years earlier from being on the show. Franco said Korine told him it was because he’d pushed Meryl Streep backstage, adding, “But he said he was a little out of it so maybe he doesn’t remember.” Letterman said that wasn’t “necessarily” what happened, and cleared up the rumor, explaining that Streep was a guest that night, but when Letterman went to her dressing room, she wasn’t there. He told Franco: “I went upstairs to greet Meryl Streep and welcome her to the show, and I knock on the door…and she was not in there. And I looked around and I found your friend Harmony going through her purse. True story. And so I said, ‘That’s it, put her things back in her bag and then get out of here.'” Franco defended the director, saying, “Harmony is a very sane guy now, a great artist and great person to work with, but I think he had a period where he was going a little off the rails, so maybe he was on something that night.”

It’s best not to trust a thief, even after 15 years.

I think Harmony Korine learned from this occurence. I believe he deserves to appear in letterman and sicuss the whole thing, and maybe even getting Meryl Streep to join, so they can have disclosure
