Ryan Gosling told not to talk to Jay Leno

By Alexandra Heilbron on September 29, 2011 | 15 Comments

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this week, Ryan Gosling admitted someone working for his agent advised him not to talk while on the show. He revealed: “I’m feeling a little self conscious because I ran into my friend Lisa Shields last night. She works for my agent now and one of her jobs is to record all my late night appearances… she said I’m trying too hard on talk shows.” He continued: “She said, ‘You’re trying so hard to be cool.’ I said, ‘I’m going on Jay Leno tomorrow, what should I do?’ She said, ‘I don’t know, like, just don’t talk. Sit there and don’t talk.’ And I was like, ‘It’s a talk show, how do you not..?’ And then she said, ‘Do something weird like sit behind his desk and get him to sit in a chair.'” Watch the full interview below — Ryan tells a really strange story about how he fell in love with motorcycles:

That guy is so cool. Seriously.

He should fire the “friend.” He is cool, he doesn’t have to try to be cool. She must be on drugs to say something like that to him.

Nice to see a guy in a suit! Canadian men sure do know how to dress and look “Hot”! Even Jay commented.

I’ve never seen an interview with Ryan where I felt he was trying too hard. That was bad advice.

Being Canadian myself, I am proud to see a fellow Ontario native become such as success in an extremely tough field…the best of luck in all future endeavours, Ryan.

This is the kind of interview I like to see — two men talking man talk — motorcycles and being ‘cool’. Makes both of them look even cooler, if that’s possible. Good on ya!

Oh please what a load of ….. just be yourself Ryan. Don’t change a thing. Guess LA isn’t used to nice people who also happen to be real.

They should make a movie with him with his shirt off the whole time.
Crazy Stupid Love was a nice movie but there could’ve been a lot of more of Ryan shirtless.
He is a beautiful and sensative man 🙂

When I have speaking engagements I don’t beg people to like me or agree with me when I talk about the things in life dealing with people who are mentally challenged. I guess the whole thing for Ryan would be, rumor or not . . .whether he is quitting acting that he should stick to being himself and not what society expects from him.

Cornwall boy done good! Nice to see someone with great success from Cornwall, but he has been doing US work for quite some time now. Mickey Mouse club anyone? And I believe Justin is from Stratford.
