Adrian Lester Biography

Adrian Lester

Date of Birth: August 14, 1968

Adrian Lester made his American film debut as the idealistic young deputy campaign manager in Mike Nichols' Primary Colors.

Adrian's lack of film experience was more than compensated for by his background on the London stage. Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Adrian has been nominated for many of the theater's highest awards, and received the 1996 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in Company.

His performance opposite Stockard Channing in Six Degrees of Separation (a role Will Smith played opposite Ms. Channing in the 1993 film version) won Adrian a Time Out Award and a nomination for the London Critics Circle Award for Most Promising Actor.

Other stage credits include As You Like It (2006) (further nominations for Olivier, Time Out TMA and Ian Charleson awards for Best Actor), Kiss Of The Spider Woman, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Lester continues to work steadily on television and in film in his native England, playing Hamlet in the TV movie The Tragedy of Hamlet (2002), a starring role in the BBC crime series Hustle from 2004 to 2006 and supporting roles in As You Like It (2006) and Scenes of a Sexual Nature (2007).

He has two daughters with his wife, Lolita.
