From a waiter studying martial arts in Bangkok to one of the most successful actors in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has come a long way.
His first successful film, Khiladi, made the industry take notice of the talented actor. From there, films such as Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Mohra and Sabse Bada Khiladi, among other hits catapulted Kumar to fame and established his position as one of the reigning actors in India.
After the successful Khiladi series, Kumar played the villain in Ajnabee, which was well received by audiences and critics alike. Dhadkan confirmed the fact that in addition to being an action hero, Kumar was also able to play a compelling romantic lead. In the same year came another memorable performance with the film Hera Pheri, which brought to the forefront his comedic strengths.
Kumar attained further success with his subsequent projects, including hit films such as Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Aitraaz, Namaste London, Heyy Babyy and his most recent credits, Welcome and Chandni Chowk to China.
Today, he is one of the most sought after actors in India, commanding strong box-office opening in the Indian and overseas markets.
He married actress Twinkle Khanna January 14, 2001. They have a son named Araav, born September 15, 2002.
