SIMON BAKER

Date of Birth: July 30, 1969

Australian-born Baker spent his teen years competing in surfing and water polo on a state level. He started out in showbusiness in Sydney with several television and theater roles. By 1992 he had earned a Logie Award for most popular new talent.

Looking to expand his career path, in 1996 Baker left for the States. With his talent and athletic good looks, he soon landed small roles in big films like L.A. Confidential (1997). He increased his experience in smaller, independent films like Most Wanted and Judas Kiss, playing major and starring roles. In 1999 he once again arrived on the set of a big budget film, Ride with the Devil, this time in the supporting role of George Clyde.

The exposure led him to other major roles in films like Red Planet (2000) playing Chip Pettengill, and The Affair of the Necklace (2001) opposite Hilary Swank. In 2002 he received a Golden Globe nomination for his regular role in the CBS TV drama The Guardian. His most recent film is British comedy I Give It a Year (2013), starring Rose Byrne, Rafe Spall and Anna Faris.

Baker is married to fellow Aussie actress, Rebecca Rigg. The two have a daughter, Stella, and two sons, Claude and Harry.
